[Hiking Series] M'sia-Gunung Belumut(1,010m) + Rimau: Full-Day Training Hike!
**\*If interested, please whatsapp** [wa.me/+6588842635](wa.me/+6588842635) **or +65 8884 2635! Sign-ups *are only confirmed after contacting us and joining the WA group! \****
As we don't just wish to do Belumut, we are going to do an extension which includes going to **another "peak" Gua Rimau**. Gunung Belumut (1,010m) is an excellent (some say challenging) day-hike near Kluang, which is around 2 hours from Singapore. It is often used as a training hike to keep up in fitness, or as preparation for other hikes as it gives you experience and preparation for other tougher hike in Malaysia, like Ophir, other G7 mountains in Malaysia, or Kinabalu. Due to its location, makes it a solid day hike, still have a good dinner and be back in SG in 1 day.
It is located in the Hutan Lipur Gunung Lumut (Mount Belumut Recreational Forest). There are 4 ‘checkpoints’ on the way to the peak. The trail is a forest trail which gets steeper, and some roped sections here and there. It serves as good training as the route is reasonably straight forward, and keeps ascending with little flat ground. The extension to Gua Rimau is an additional 3-4km (an additional \~1-2h total)
Most fit hikers can reach Belumut Summit in less than 4 hours, and Rimau in around 5h, and be back down in less than 4h, but average hikes take around 4h one way.
It is slightly longer than Lambak, Datuk or Angsi, but not as long as Ophir or Kinabalu. However, that also depends on the terrain conditions, so its at least solid day of hiking **(8-11h)**! Do note that there are leeches on this trail, and rain can make it slipper and muddy!
**Who is this for?**
It is most suitable for those who want to test their fitness and mental strength, experience a tougher hike other than Lambak or Datuk, or to do another hike other than the usual ones. It is also shorter than Ophir.
It serves as a good training or progressive hike for those who wish to do more hiking. Most do it as general training for other hikes.
**How tough is it/How fit do I have to be?**
The trek is inclduing the extension is around 5h up and 4h down, and can be 8-11h depending on your pace.
It is generally tropical forest trail, can be muddy, and there are some rope portions. The route is quite straight forward, but it just ascends all the way up.
However, if you have done Gunung Datuk/Lambak/Angsi before, the terrain is not that much of a surprise.
This is okay for newbies, as long as you have some level of fitness, if not it might be fun and challenging for those who are first time in Malaysia!
**How many pax for the trip to happen?**
Minimum **12 pax** to start the trip!
Once confirmed, a Whatsapp group/info-session will be set up.

[Hardcore Series]M'sia-Gunung Semangkok (1,825m): Crazy 14-18h hike
**\*If interested, please whatsapp** [wa.me/+6588842635](wa.me/+6588842635) **or contact +65 8884 2635! Sign-ups *are only confirmed after contacting us and joining the WA group!\****
Gunung Semangkok (1,825m) is a mountain bordering Pahang and Selangor but goes through the Pine Tree Trail from Fraser Hill, and is an extremely tough and challenging hike due to the elevation and distance of the hike. It usually takes at least 14-18h, with an elevation of \~2,100 and a distance of \~28km. It is famous/also know for the "Valley of Death", where after the Pine Tree trail summits, it does feel like descending into a bowl before ascending, and returning back the same way. Moreover, this hike is done with a lack of sleep as we have to start early in the morning!
The good thing about this hike is that it is generally cooling as it is the Fraser Hill area, do expect it to be cold once the sun sets!
Do note that there is an early meeting time for this. So do be mentally and physically prepared for it! Get ready your headlights, spare batteries, expect to get your shoes wet and muddy, and you are also expected to get wet due to chance of rain!
This is the toughest of our hardcore series to date, so only serious and experienced hikers!
**Who is this for?**
**=> People who wish to/can challenge themselves (I would say to the point of mental and physical torture)**
=> People who have done full day hikes (e.g. Ophir) and wish to challenge themselves further
=> Wish to hike more than 12h and deal with different terrains and undulating terrains, like up and down and up again to test their mental fortitude
=> Those who wish to experience hiking in the dark...and ending in the dark
=> Training for tough hikes (high altitude hikes that potentially last >12h)
=> Generally suited for more experienced hikers who know they can last at least 12h hiking
=> Test yourself hiking with little/no sleep
Do note that we will start and might descend when dark, so please bring headlights and we expect some level of fitness or hiking experience for the group!
***Hike Details***
***The total distance is \~28km and total elevation gain is \~2100m+.The hike is around 14-18h in total, depending on your speed.*** This will feel like doing at least 2x as long as Ophir Asahan hike. It can and will be extremely tiring on your mind, body and legs.
It is generally tropical forest trail, similar to Fraser Hill Twin Peaks Pine Tree Trail hike, with steep section to the Twin Peaks, and lots of up and downhills and going through fallen logs.
**There is also a cut-off timings which we'll enforce more strictly. If you fail to make it you will have to turn back unfortunately, as the distance is long. We aim to all be back down by 11pm.**
**How many pax for the trip to happen?**
Minimum **12 pax** to start the trip!
A Whatsapp group will be set up and information sent through there.
**Estimated Itinerary:**
**(Friday)**
\~4.00 pm : Meet @ Marsiling MRT, depart,
4.00pm - 12am: Dinner/Supper along the way
(Saturday)
2:00am: Reach Trailhead, prepare for hike
6.00 am: Reach Pine Tree Trail first summit

9.30am: Sg merah
11.30 am: Gunung Semangkok Summit: Congrats!! Time to u-turn
7.00-9.00pm: Reach back trailhead, exit and wash-up.
11.00 pm++ : Reach accommodation (Rawang)
(Sunday)
Free and easy, head back to Singapore.
