Join us for a wonderful 3.8 mile (5km) linear, hilly walk from Hampstead Heath Station (Mildmay Line Overground) to the village of Hampstead. Ends at Hampstead Underground Station (Northern Line) Please allow plenty of time to arrive as trains for Hampstead Heath are infrequent from West Hampstead (Jubilee Line) to Hampstead Heath Station (Mildmay Line), trains run about every 10-15 mins We will walk through old hidden cobbled lanes, quaint old churches and beautiful alleyways in one of the most amazing, charming areas of London. If I could live in London, it would be in Hampstead.. The beautiful walk will firstly take us up on the famous Hampstead Heath with stunning views of London There is some fascinating brief history too, find out where Ruth Ellis (Last Woman to be hanged in the UK) killed her lover, the home she went to to find him before she killed him, famous homes of Gracie Fields, Peter Cook, HG Wells, George Orwell, President Charles De Gualle, Ricky Gervais, Boy George, Marty Feldman, the De Mauriers, HJohn Constable, a Hampstead old jail, the healing springs of Hampstead, historic old pubs, famous graves of Peter Pan, De Mauriers, John Constable and John Harrison. Walk length 20miles/32km approx. Circular. A spectacular and long circular hike from Henley to Stonor and Turville with far reaching views across open countryside and the Thames. This hike has a great deal of features.. Stonor Park includes an historic country house and private deer park situated about four miles (6.4 km) north of Henley-on-Thames. At Turville there will be an opportunity to climb to the top of windmill hill for great views of the surrounding countryside close to the Cobstone windmill. The Cobstone windmill was built around 1816 and featured in the film "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang." The final section of the walk follows the Thames path from Mill End back to Henley. PLEASE BE AWARE THIS IS A VERY LONG HILLY HIKE SO PLEASE ONLY RSVP IF YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH THIS AND CAN KEEP A REASONABLE PACE. BE AWARE IF THE WEATHER IS BAD THE HIKE MAY BE SHORTENED.
