A Hackergarten is a friendly, hands-on event where developers, designers, and open source enthusiasts come together to contribute to real projects. No talks, just hands-on. Contributions can include fixing bugs, implementing features, exploring new tech, doing design work, or even hacking on hardware. No prior open source experience is required. Just bring your curiosity and a laptop. We work in pairs or small groups, and you can either bring your own project or join one on-site. The event is free, with drinks, snacks, and pizza provided. Shooting only in Auto or Program mode is a thing of the past. We will learn when it makes sense to use Manual (M), Shutter Priority (TV), or Aperture Priority (AV) modes to create artistic compositions under a wide variety of conditions. This workshop is designed for beginners as well as photographers who want to dive deeper into their camera settings, lenses, and the many features their gear has to offer. **Part 1: Getting Started (2h)** * **Full Control:** Mastering Manual (M) mode. * **The Essentials:** Understanding Aperture, Shutter Speed, and ISO, and how they shape your image. * **Semi-Auto Modes:** When and why to use AV or TV modes. * **Focus:** An insight into various autofocus options. **Part 2: Lenses & Perspective (2h)** Unlike prime lenses, telephoto lenses offer more flexibility without having to move—but they also come with specific challenges. **A creative walk & talk for designers and creatives** Join us for a half-day walk and talk along the scenic Uetliberg ridge, designed to connect outside the usual networking format. No presentations. No panels. Just great people, ideas, and a shared path. We start at Triemli Station and hike up through the forest to Uto Staffel (about 1.5 hours), guided by [Mario Stipetic](https://www.linkedin.com/in/mariostipetic/). From there, we continue into a relaxed 1 to 1.5 hour ridge walk along the Planetenweg with views over Zürich, the lake, and the Alps. Conversations unfold naturally along the way. We move in small groups, rotate, and share thoughts on current projects, creative challenges, and topics like AI in design, or whatever emerges in the moment. We end at Gut Mädikon Hofcafé, a hidden farm café, where we spend about one hour enjoying coffee, homemade cake, and relaxed conversation. This is networking without the pressure. ### **Portrait & Model Direction Workshop with Stefan Rappo** A hands-on workshop with the Swiss, Paris based photographer **Stefan Rappo**, focused on **portrait photography** and **directing models**.
