Barcelona 08037 EXPERIMENTAR LA UNIDAD Experimentar la unidad El mundo de hoy carece de unidad. Se hace evidente en las divisiones que vemos en el ámbito familiar, entre vecinos, entre iglesias y comunidades, por poner sólo algún ejemplo. Parece que la polarización prime ante el entendimiento. Es consecuencia de un individualismo que toma el protagonismo y empuja a decidir y actuar por la cuenta propia, buscando la propia interés o prestigio personal, menospreciando a los demás, sus necesidades y sus derechos. Y, sin embargo, es posible experimentar la unidad. Es un camino que comienza siempre en pequeño, desde un sí interior: sí a acoger, sí a perdonar, sí a vivir por el otro. No se trata de grandes proyectos, sino de pequeñas fidelidades que, con el tiempo, transforman una vida, una comunidad, todo un ambiente. Y cuando esto sucede, nos damos cuenta de que la fraternidad deja de ser un ideal y se convierte en una realidad visible y esperanza para todos. Martin Buber considera que la unidad es relación. Es el espacio del encuentro, lo que existe entre el Tú y el Yo, un lugar sagrado donde las diferencias no desaparecen, sino que se reconocen mutuamente. Por él, la unidad nace cuando dos realidades se dejan afectar y no cuando una se impone a la otra. Este “entre” puede leerse como un espacio que acoge la diversidad y que, precisamente por eso, se convierte en fuente de comunión. Por eso, para Buber, Toda vida verdadera es encontrada (Ich und Du, 1923). Así pues, en el otro —sea un amigo, un familiar o cualquier persona que encontremos en el nuestro camino— descubrimos la gran “oportunidad de la relación”. En particular, el otro “nos salva” cuando una situación difícil parece encarcelarnos en nuestros miedos, permitiéndonos ir más allá de nosotros mismos. Vivir para estar unidos significa andar juntos a pesar de las diferencias, convirtiéndolas en un tesoro y no en un obstáculo. Es una invitación a pasar de la simple convivencia en el encuentro, donde lo que pertenece a cada uno, en la reciprocidad, es nuevo porque es compartido y puesto en relación. La unidad, entendida así, no es la suma de ambos, ni tampoco fragilidad: es bastante que genera la esperanza de que todavía haya un mañana. La diversidad ya no es desunidad, sino riqueza mutua. Es sentir que lo que ocurre al otro también resuena en mí. La unión no consiste en la igualdad, sino en la armonía, nos recuerda Rabindranath Tagore. Que este mes podamos experimentar la alegría, la luz, la vida, la paz y la esperanza de que nacen de la unidad vivida. Si somos uno, todo se percibe distinto. LA

Join us as we get together to get together to help those in need at this CMG Gives Back event! For this event, we’ll help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents, wash dishes and clean surfaces at Fath Mission – Grant Kitchen. We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “Create a better world” by helping serve those in need. Here are complete details and our plan for this event: FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. Our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces. PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for BRUNCH from 10:30am to 12:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 10:15am and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1, indicated in the attached map. On-site and street parking are available in the surrounding area.
