**Speaker** Nicolas Gerig, AI Product Engineer Yves Gugger, Consultant **Agenda** * 18:30 Doors open * 19:00 Talk * 20:00 Networking

Impact Over Perfection – A Practical Approach to Accessibility
Impact Over Perfection – A Practical Approach to Accessibility
Accessibility often feels overwhelming with all its guidelines, standards and edge cases. But in practice, meaningful improvements don’t require perfection. They require empathy and a sincere motivation to create a truly usable experience for all. In this talk, we share real learnings from UX and UI projects: what actually made a difference, where teams struggled, and how small, deliberate changes created a much more inclusive experience. You’ll walk away with a practical mindset and actionable ideas to start improving accessibility in your own projects — without waiting for the “perfect” solution. Uetliberg Design Networking Hike
Uetliberg Design Networking Hike
**A creative walk & talk for designers and creatives** Join us for a half-day walk and talk along the scenic Uetliberg ridge, designed to connect outside the usual networking format. No presentations. No panels. Just great people, ideas, and a shared path. We start at Triemli Station and hike up through the forest to Uto Staffel (about 1.5 hours), guided by [Mario Stipetic](https://www.linkedin.com/in/mariostipetic/). From there, we continue into a relaxed 1 to 1.5 hour ridge walk along the Planetenweg with views over Zürich, the lake, and the Alps. Conversations unfold naturally along the way. We move in small groups, rotate, and share thoughts on current projects, creative challenges, and topics like AI in design, or whatever emerges in the moment. We end at Gut Mädikon Hofcafé, a hidden farm café, where we spend about one hour enjoying coffee, homemade cake, and relaxed conversation. This is networking without the pressure. Just movement, fresh air, and meaningful exchange. See you there! 😇 **WhatsApp Group (Coordination)** We’ll send the WhatsApp invite after you RSVP. You can also join via Discord below. —— **The Easy Route** Prefer to skip the steep climb? Take the S10 train from Zürich HB to Uetliberg (about 20 minutes), then walk down to Uto Staffel and meet us there around 11:00 AM. Timing will be coordinated via the group on the day. **Getting Back** We walk back along the ridge to Uetliberg, either retracing the Planetenweg or taking the path near the Uetliberg tower. From there, walk down to Triemli station and catch the train home. **Physical Fitness** The initial climb takes about 1.5 hours and is steep, requiring a reasonable level of fitness. If you are unsure, take the easy route. The views are the same, and the Hofcafé cake tastes just as good. **RSVP** If your plans change and you can no longer attend, please update your RSVP so we can adjust the reservation at the Hofcafé. —— **📅 Date** Sunday, May 31, 2026 (Alternative rain date: June 7, 2026) **📍 Meeting Point (Start)** 10:00 AM at Triemli Station, Zürich **⏰ Duration** \~6 to 7 hours total (including lunch break) **🥾 Difficulty** Moderate (steep initial climb) **⛰️ Elevation gain** \~320 m (485 m > 805 m) **🎒 What to bring** * Hiking shoes or sturdy trail shoes (no sneakers, no sandals) * Water bottle (at least 0.5L) * Weather-appropriate layers (cooler in the forest, windy on the ridge) * Optional snack * Sun protection (hat or cap, sunscreen) **🚶 Return** \~13:30 from Hofcafé —— **🔗 Discord** Get event reminders and connect with other members on Discord: ➡️ [discord.gg/PAyRBDhKkk](http://discord.gg/PAyRBDhKkk) —— **Who’s Visual Fields?** Visual Fields is a network of designers and creatives built for people to connect, support, and share with fellow experts. Whatapp: [https://chat.whatsapp.com/FxOfVTK9nf431xHtVl3eGK](https://chat.whatsapp.com/FxOfVTK9nf431xHtVl3eGK) Website: [https://webzurich.ch](https://webzurich.ch) 18:30 \~ 19:00 Arrival time with drinks, chat 19:00 \~ 19:10 Welcome and introduction 19:10 \~ 19:30 *Alex Suzuki* **Monetizing JavaScript: Building Profitable Products as a Solo Developer** Lessons learned from building and launching a commercial JavaScript library as a solo developer. 19:30 \~ 19:50 *Hugo Sousa* **Ten times tea** I'm building a programming language. When I got to the frontend, I ran into a problem: React's mental model is elegant, but the mental model is at odds with the code. Hooks, effects, and render passes create a runtime that bears little resemblance to the code we write. The Elm programming language works differently and its architecture (TEA = The Elm Architecture) has been adopted by other tools over the years. So I copied it as well. My language embeds TEA at the language level, not as a library. This unlocks time-travel debugging, reproducible application state and serializable bug reports that include the entire program state. This talk covers the quick introduction of my language, TEA, why TEA is the right fit and what becomes possible when the architecture is baked into the language itself. 19:50 \~ 20:10 *Marco Gähler* **Software testing** Many old software projects don't have any tests - if the code works, why should you bother with tests? Well, you really should bother, because code changes all the time. During development, you keep adding new features which at times requires large scale modifications of the code that will inevitably alter existing functionality. And in existing projects, one still has to make updates once in a while, for example for security patches. These things will always break existing functionality and tests are the only remedy against this issue. In this talk, we will look at the basic idea of tests, how to implement them, what issues to look out for and how you can test pretty much any piece of code if your code base is well structured. 20:10 onward More drinks & chat We look forward to see you there! Ensuring Software Quality in the world of AI Developers - Matt Eland
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you. The building address is 4450 Bridge Park The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400 You will need to scan your ID at the door to get a visitor badge. **Abstract** Like it or not, AI agents are now capable of turning a quickly written paragraph of requirements into a pull request that is ready to be integrated into real-world production applications and it's now our responsibility to make sure AI doesn't go rogue and take down prod - or corrupt our data by misunderstanding the requirements or our existing schemas. In this session we'll explore strategies to protect our codebases through unit and integration testing, documentation, and code review along with additional ways of providing context and guard rails to our AI agents as they carry out the work we've assigned them to do. By the time we're done, you'll have a firm grasp of the problem and understand some helpful options for protecting your codebase from vibe coding mishaps getting YOLOed into prod. **YouTube Link** https://youtube.com/live/BltmWMH1zG0?feature=share
