Web Zurich Mai 2026
Web Zurich Mai 2026
Web Zurich presents inspiring talks all about the web. Join us for the Mai 2026 meetup! We will have three talks as well as chit-chat and drinks. Whatapp: [https://chat.whatsapp.com/FxOfVTK9nf431xHtVl3eGK](https://chat.whatsapp.com/FxOfVTK9nf431xHtVl3eGK) Website: [https://webzurich.ch](https://webzurich.ch) 18:30 \~ 19:00 Arrival time with drinks, chat 19:00 \~ 19:10 Welcome and introduction 19:10 \~ 19:30 *Alex Suzuki* **Monetizing JavaScript: Building Profitable Products as a Solo Developer** Lessons learned from building and launching a commercial JavaScript library as a solo developer. 19:30 \~ 19:50 *Hugo Sousa* **Ten times tea** I'm building a programming language. When I got to the frontend, I ran into a problem: React's mental model is elegant, but the mental model is at odds with the code. Hooks, effects, and render passes create a runtime that bears little resemblance to the code we write. The Elm programming language works differently and its architecture (TEA = The Elm Architecture) has been adopted by other tools over the years. So I copied it as well. My language embeds TEA at the language level, not as a library. This unlocks time-travel debugging, reproducible application state and serializable bug reports that include the entire program state. This talk covers the quick introduction of my language, TEA, why TEA is the right fit and what becomes possible when the architecture is baked into the language itself. 19:50 \~ 20:10 *Marco Gähler* **Software testing** Many old software projects don't have any tests - if the code works, why should you bother with tests? Well, you really should bother, because code changes all the time. During development, you keep adding new features which at times requires large scale modifications of the code that will inevitably alter existing functionality. And in existing projects, one still has to make updates once in a while, for example for security patches. These things will always break existing functionality and tests are the only remedy against this issue. In this talk, we will look at the basic idea of tests, how to implement them, what issues to look out for and how you can test pretty much any piece of code if your code base is well structured. 20:10 onward More drinks & chat We look forward to see you there! Location https://zurich.impacthub.ch/space/bogen_d/ Viaduktstrasse 93, 8005 Zürich, Switzerland Visit our website https://webzurich.ch/ for more information about the Web Zurich community. This event is supported by Impact Hub Zürich, The global community of entrepreneurial people prototyping the future of business. At Impact Hub, you can connect, collaborate, co-work and create great content in an inspiring environment.

This is proven by data in [ANCIENT HISTORY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kg_47J6sy3A), in [MODERN HISTORY](https://www.kiltrohealth.com/blog/blue-zones-social-connection-the-secret-to-longevity-and-well-being) and also scientifically proven by [HARVARD ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KkKuTCFvzI)in an 87 year old study. The **"Connection Space"** is exactly the opposite of that; its a **fun** social environment outside family and work, a cultural exchange, where we **unite** and hangout with **new and old friends** as **one community**. . Thats it. . No to phones, laptops, zoom-calls, books No to a specific reason to get together (eg. only for specific hobbies, genders, age groups, languages etc) No to just talking to your friends Not a dating, not a party, not an expat-only meetup NO to division (political racial gender etc) . Yes to simple and real in-person connection with new and old friends YES TO FUN! We got many optional activities for you to try out Yes to feeling like home & come as you are Yes to unity, love and respect for one another Yes to eating, drinking and music Yes to everyone-is-welcome & always-free events YES to UNITY! Getting along with each other in spite of different opinions . Our events are **inspired** by the Greek village culture of "[Καφενείο](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kafenio)" (village coffeeshops) with photos [HERE](https://www.google.com/search?sca_esv=569660528&sxsrf=AM9HkKlXnclaLfgcockKtdr9qHdmD5jaGw:1696060562834&q=greek+%CE%BA%CE%B1%CF%86%CE%B5%CE%BD%CE%B5%CE%B9%CE%BF&tbm=isch&source=lnms&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi52fX67dGBAxXnlf0HHZNiBHUQ0pQJegQICRAB&biw=1460&bih=913&dpr=2). When myself Christos was a kid, my granddad took me to these "[Καφενείο](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kafenio)". Every neighbourhood had one, and people met, without an exaggeration, on a daily-basis. It was the community center of the village. People met new and old friends, played games, socialised, ate snacks, drank coffee and ouzo. It was a very friendly, welcoming and homey environment. Unfortunately this concept is rapidly dying in Greece. As a kid I had extremely good memories of these coffeeshops, and for this reason I am passionate to revive and recreate this environment and also add a modern twist. Hope you enjoy it! . * **WHAT is NOT Connection Space? NOT** a drinks or party event (responsible drinking only, no shots, no free drinks). **NOT** a dating event. **NOT** foreigners-only, but everyone is welcome * **What KIND of event is this?** Its a mix of **social** and **cultural event** that build **community**. We have many people from so many different cultures socialising, we promote culture with events with Art exhibitions and Live Music and we also revive the social culture of the Greek traditional village coffeeshop (Καφενείο - read more above). * **WHO?** Wir wollen gerne mehr **Schweizer/innen** dabei haben! Alle sind willkommen und die meisten können Deutsch sprechen. Not an expat event. **Everyone welcome**! * **Mindful Connection Games:** from [The School of Life](https://www.theschooloflife.com/shop/?_product_type=games-card-sets) available: Confessions Game, The Friendship Game, Connection Game, The Loser Game, Games for grown-ups and three sets of "100 questions" (Conversation Toolkit & Careers & Relationships) * **Fun Social Games:** bring your own **board/card games** or choose from: Cards against humanity, Exploding Kittens, Codenames, Debatable, Sotally Tober, Taboo, Mafia, Uno, Monopoly and more. . Looking forward to **fun quality Connections**! 🙂

Uetliberg Design Networking Hike
Uetliberg Design Networking Hike
**A creative walk & talk for designers and creatives** Join us for a half-day walk and talk along the scenic Uetliberg ridge, designed to connect outside the usual networking format. No presentations. No panels. Just great people, ideas, and a shared path. We start at Triemli Station and hike up through the forest to Uto Staffel (about 1.5 hours), guided by [Mario Stipetic](https://www.linkedin.com/in/mariostipetic/). From there, we continue into a relaxed 1 to 1.5 hour ridge walk along the Planetenweg with views over Zürich, the lake, and the Alps. Conversations unfold naturally along the way. We move in small groups, rotate, and share thoughts on current projects, creative challenges, and topics like AI in design, or whatever emerges in the moment. We end at Gut Mädikon Hofcafé, a hidden farm café, where we spend about one hour enjoying coffee, homemade cake, and relaxed conversation. This is networking without the pressure. Just movement, fresh air, and meaningful exchange. See you there! 😇 **WhatsApp Group (Coordination)** We’ll send the WhatsApp invite after you RSVP. You can also join via Discord below. —— **The Easy Route** Prefer to skip the steep climb? Take the S10 train from Zürich HB to Uetliberg (about 20 minutes), then walk down to Uto Staffel and meet us there around 11:00 AM. Timing will be coordinated via the group on the day. **Getting Back** We walk back along the ridge to Uetliberg, either retracing the Planetenweg or taking the path near the Uetliberg tower. From there, walk down to Triemli station and catch the train home. **Physical Fitness** The initial climb takes about 1.5 hours and is steep, requiring a reasonable level of fitness. If you are unsure, take the easy route. The views are the same, and the Hofcafé cake tastes just as good. **RSVP** If your plans change and you can no longer attend, please update your RSVP so we can adjust the reservation at the Hofcafé. —— **📅 Date** Sunday, June 7, 2026 **📍 Meeting Point (Start)** 10:00 AM at Triemli Station, Zürich **⏰ Duration** \~6 to 7 hours total (including lunch break) **🥾 Difficulty** Moderate (steep initial climb) **⛰️ Elevation gain** \~320 m (485 m > 805 m) **🎒 What to bring** * Hiking shoes or sturdy trail shoes (no sneakers, no sandals) * Water bottle (at least 0.5L) * Weather-appropriate layers (cooler in the forest, windy on the ridge) * Optional snack * Sun protection (hat or cap, sunscreen) **🚶 Return** \~13:30 from Hofcafé —— **🔗 Discord** Get event reminders and connect with other members on Discord: ➡️ [discord.gg/PAyRBDhKkk](http://discord.gg/PAyRBDhKkk) —— **Who’s Visual Fields?** Visual Fields is a network of designers and creatives built for people to connect, support, and share with fellow experts. We have upcoming events in Zürich, Basel, and Luzern. [Check out upcoming events](http://visualfields.ch/) —— **Event policies** We have zero tolerance for discrimination or harassment. Be mindful not to make assumptions about gender, sexual orientation, or identity. Always ask for consent - for physical contact and work critique - and treat everyone and the space with respect. [All policies](https://experienc.es/policies) **Fine print (the friendly kind)** You join at your own risk. The trail includes steep, uneven, and potentially muddy sections. Data & Analytics Wednesday - Finding Product Insights
Data & Analytics Wednesday - Finding Product Insights
**The Behavior Gap: Where Products Win or Lose** Teams today have more data than ever, and yet many still struggle to understand why customers adopt, engage with, or abandon their products. Teams sprint, ship faster, and chase more signals… all while metrics stall and confidence drops. The missing piece isn’t more data. It’s often the behavioral insight between the metrics, explaining why the numbers move in the first place. Dashboards can tell you what customers did, but understanding why they did it (and how to influence what they do next) requires a deeper blend of insights. This session is about closing that gap. Drawing from real-world experience designing and scaling products as [ZoCo Design](https://zocodesign.com/)’s CEO, [Lacey](https://www.linkedin.com/in/laceypicazo/) will share how to cut through the noise and identify the insights that actually change behavior—moving people, and moving metrics. You’ll learn: * Why understanding customer behavior is a quant and qual challenge * How to spot the signals that actually predict behavior change * Where AI accelerates insight, and where it creates distraction * How to get meaningfully closer to customers, without adding more tools This talk reframes how to evaluate performance and identify what levers actually improve it, helping your team to make smarter bets with greater confidence. Every meaningful outcome is driven by behavior change. And when you know how to design for behavior, you stop guessing, and start building things that work. **About Our Speaker** [Lacey Picazo](https://www.linkedin.com/in/laceypicazo/) is the Founder and CEO of ZoCo, a healthcare product studio that turns complex, high-stakes ideas into products that drive real-world adoption. She partners with healthcare organizations to uncover critical care delivery insights, focus product strategy through behavior design, and build solutions that patients and providers actually use.
