Silent Walk in the Forรชt de Soignes
Silent Walk in the Forรชt de Soignes
We will be walking through the forest for a little over 1 1/2 hours, silently, just noticing the world around us and inside us. The idea is to experience the magic of a different type of walking, The invitation is to slow down and notice what is going on inside you and around you. Very often people experience a closer connection with nature and with self, with sometimes surprising insights. *Please make sure you are fit enough to go the 4.5 km distance. We will be walking slowly, but we will not take any breaks.* We will be meeting at the Hermann Debroux Metro at **14h**. (Exit straight ahead after leaving the platform--on the Loxam side). If you RSVP as coming, please be on time. We will be starting our walk from there 5 min. after the hour sharp. Come and join us on **Saturday, July 4, at 14h** My phone number is 0472 92 11 76, in case you need to communicate with me.

Mental Fitness Walk โ€” coffee & conversation at Bois de la Cambre ๐ŸŒณโ˜•๏ธ๐Ÿ‘Ÿ
We spend so much of the week keeping up. With work, with people, with the version of ourselves we're supposed to be. Saturday morning can be different. ๐ŸŒฟ Come and join for an honest conversation and a mindful walk with people who also get it. No pressure to share anything you're not ready to share. You can talk as much or as little as you like; sometimes, just being outside in nature with good people is enough. *This is part of a series of regular walks for the [Mental Fitness Collective](https://www.meetup.com/mental-fitness-collective/) โ€” a simple, free morning to step outside, move at a gentle pace, and be around people who aren't performing either.* **๐Ÿ“Meeting point:** Stella - Coffee Food Bakery (in front of the tram stop Legrand), where you can buy a drink of your choice (optional). ๐Ÿ—“๏ธ **Agenda:** We'll take a relaxed walk through Bois de la Cambre and a full loop around the lake, about 4-5 km, at a pace where conversation feels comfortable. We'll finish at the roundabout at the end of Av. Louise. **Small housekeeping rule:** What happens in the group stays in the group. Whatever is shared between participants during our time together stays between us. It is to make sure this feels like a safe place to be honest. I'll be there to welcome everyone. Come as you are. ๐ŸŒฟ Free to join, RSVP to save your spot! โ€ผ๏ธAltough this is a free event, I would like to ask you to try to respect each otherโ€™s time: In case you wonโ€™t be able to make it or change your mind, please cancel your attendance by **8 PM, 3 July** the latest, so others might be able to take your place. Thank you! I look forward to seeing you! *The event is weather-dependent.* *This walk will run every other Saturday. Each one is standalone, so come whenever it works for you. Join our group, [Mental Fitness Collective](https://www.meetup.com/mental-fitness-collective/) and get notified of our events.*

Lustin to Dinant (25km)
We will continue our footpath from last week, this time going south from Lustin, mostly on the GR 126. The route starts with a climb to a viewpoint over the Meuse, then winds through the rugged Meuse Valley, passing by the Abbaye de Leffe, and finally descending into Dinant with panoramic views of the Citadel, and a well-deserved stop for a drink or ice-cream, depending on the train schedule. The number of participants is limited to 12, so please manage your registration responsibly: only sign up if you really intend to come and cancel as soon as you know you canโ€™t (this also goes for people on the waiting list!). We will try to keep close to an average moving speed of 5km/h. We will walk both on paved and unpaved roads. Iโ€™ve not tested this track beforehand, so itโ€™s possible that there are some mistakes in the planning (i.e. it may become longer ;-). โ—โ—You can find the gpx track here: [https://www.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/user.do?id=2756021](https://www.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/user.do?id=2756021) โ—โ—Meeting point: We meet at 9.10 in Brussels Schuman station at Platform 2. Our train (IC 2509 to Dinant) leaves at 09.23. and arrives to Lustin at 10.30. โ—โ— Trains back to Brussels: direct trains from Dinant are every hour at XX.13. โ—โ— Train ticket: One way ticket to Lustin is 9.60โ‚ฌ or 5.80โ‚ฌ with train+. One way ticket from Dinant is 11.40โ‚ฌ or 6.80โ‚ฌ with train+. Return ticket to Dinant should also be ok. โ—โ— Specifics: Distance: ยฑ 25 km Elevation gain: 670 m Net walking time: ยฑ 6 h Weather forecast: sunny and warm. In the unlikely case of too bad weather, I may cancel a hike, even few hours before the event. If this must happen, I will of course update the Meetup website and send out an email to those registered. So it is important to have access to either the Meetup website and/or your emails. โ—โ— What to bring: *Plenty of water + pack your own lunch/snacks - Comfortable hiking shoes and clothes *Sun and bug protection (Sunscreen, hat, tick repellent, etc) - Raingear (just in case) *Small money for drinks/ice-cream โ—โ— Basic rules: Please RSVP only if you really intend to come. No-shows are even worse. Do not show up for a hike unless you are on the โ€œgoingโ€ list. โ—โ— Acknowledgement of member responsibility and release of liability: You are responsible for yourself and should be fit enough if you want to take part. Data & Analytics Wednesday - Learning from Everyday Data
Data & Analytics Wednesday - Learning from Everyday Data
**Practical Curiosity: Learning from Everyday Data** How do we actually get better at utilizing our day-to-day data? Fancy dashboards and complex models might look nice and draw attention, but thatโ€™s not where most of us spend our time. In fact those shiny outputs frequently sit unused, while the real insights are drawn from the analystโ€™s daily practice. Sometimes itโ€™s as simple and as powerful as noticing that a segment is shrinking, a channel is underused, or certain links keep getting all the clicks. Thereโ€™s many different places that the spark of insight can come from, but you have to keep your head in the data and know where to look. In this session, weโ€™ll explore real-world examples of how segmentation, testing, and click behavior can uncover practical digital marketing opportunities. Youโ€™ll leave with inspiration for your own use cases, along with a few simple ways to ask better questions, spot meaningful patterns, and make smarter decisions without overcomplicating it. **About Our Speaker:** [Elaine Armbruster](https://www.linkedin.com/in/elainearmbruster/) is a Director of Digital Experience at the [American Diabetes Association](https://diabetes.org/), where she focuses on using data and insights to create smarter, more effective digital experiences. A lifelong Columbus resident, she has built her career in email marketing and the broader digital user journey, and is finding she most enjoys working in the messy middle where systems, data, and big ideas donโ€™t quite line up yet. IxDA Chat n Pancakes
You can sleep in on the Sesquicentennial (observed), weโ€™re shifting to the following Friday. But join the local UX community for a chat and some biscuits to catch up. If you were in CA for Figma Config, tell us all the lines and you can tell me how I can animate an SVG without coding it by hand, and why Iโ€™d even want to. Thanks to the team at Nationwide of supporting the group.

Stop Guessing: How to Measure and Improve LLM Outputs
Stop Guessing: How to Measure and Improve LLM Outputs
Most people use LLMs by feel: ask a question, read the answer, decide whether it โ€œseems good,โ€ and move on. That works for casual use. It does not work when you are building software, automating workflows, writing important documents, or relying on AI for anything that needs to be repeatable. In this talk, weโ€™ll look at how to improve and evaluate the inputs and outputs of LLMs using practical measurement techniques. Weโ€™ll cover how prompt changes affect results, how to compare outputs, how to build simple evaluation sets, and how math-based methods like similarity scoring can help you move beyond guesswork. This will be beginner-friendly, so even if you don't know anything about AI, you should get something out of it. However, this will be a little more technical than our intro talks. You do not need to be an AI researcher, but programmers and technically curious attendees will get a lot out of it. Weโ€™ll cover: * Why โ€œit looks goodโ€ is not enough * How to improve prompts by changing the input, context, and constraints * How to compare LLM outputs more systematically * Basic evaluation techniques for accuracy, consistency, and usefulness * How embeddings, cosine similarity, and scoring can help evaluate results * Where automated evaluation works โ€” and where humans still need to stay in the loop By the end, youโ€™ll have a practical mental model for treating LLMs less like magic and more like systems you can test, measure, and improve. LOGISTICS AND PARKING: The talk starts at 7:00 PM. The first half hour is reserved for everyone to get set up and mingle. Free pizza and drinks! The cheapest parking option is to find street parking, which will only cost you a few bucks. Otherwise, park in the nearby veteran's museum lot for $8. It's highly recommended you avoid the nearby $15 garage parking.
