Join a circle of curious, passionate and creative individuals and share whatever make your brains engaged. Meet 5 other knowledge seeking individuals and grow in the process. **No membership or entrance fee** required, only the willingness to share in order to receive.
Here is your chance to talk about a topic you are deeply passionate about but somehow never comes up on parties.
Come and share your "spark", a project you’re building, an essay that changed your mind, your travelling journey, a research or book you are writing, a movie you think everyone should see, a story from your life, or a question you can’t stop thinking about. You share to receive, and you listen to grow. The format is still in experimental phase, so we will adapt as we see fit, but we aim to skip the usual starter conversations and go towards the interesting bits :)

Reading Club: written by women
Once a month we get together to discuss a book written by a woman author. We will read all kinds of literary genres. We choose any published work provided that it discusses gender issues and that it is written by a woman author. We want to discuss books that empower us to be ourselves and bring change to the world.
During the discussion, we will answer the following questions:
\- what resonated with me?
\- what did I learn?
\- what can I apply?
**The book for April is The correspondent by Virginia Evans.**
At the end of the event, we choose the book to be read on the following event based on the suggestions of the participants.
**Who is this book club for?**
The reading club is open to everyone, not only women! The discussion will be in English, but locals and internationals alike are welcome!
We will limit the group to 12 people to ensure that everyone has the chance to speak and encourage discussion. The meeting will serve as a discussion, so don't forget to read the book beforehand ;)
**About the volunteers:**
Viviana has been living in Leuven for 14 years. She loves reading and loves to share this passion with other people. She is one of the volunteers and founder of the regular IHL book club Written by Women.
Vanessa is originally from Puerto Rico and has been living near Leuven for the last 3 years. She is very curious and loves reading (especially books that surprise her) and seeing other's perspectives through stories.
Debate Night: Birth Rate
Global fertility rates have been falling for decades. They are now reaching a historical low. In the next 25 years, Europe, East Asia and Russia will experience significant population declines, according to the IMF. While this could hinder progress and challenge the sustainability of social safety nets and pensions, it could reduce pressures on the environment and free resources (housing, childcare...). What should be done if anything? Please join us to share your opinion.
This debate will follow a British Parliamentary format with eight debaters split into **four teams of two.**
Participants who wish to speak are highly encouraged to bring a paper and pen. You are welcome to participate even if you have no prior debating experience.
We aim for debates that are respectful, constructive, and welcoming:

In many developers' lives comes a time when they move on from "coder" to "lead" to "architect" (or similar terminology) and maybe all the way to CTO. After a while it gets harder to grasp the concepts the "coder" people are talking about, even though it seems like just yesterday. And it's not imposter syndrome, it's something entirely different ! In this talk, we'll walk through this journey, which is not always a one-way street, to illustrate that how you approach this journey makes all the difference to yourself and your team.

Wim Godden has been working with open source technologies since 1997 and has been involved in open source projects such as PHPCompatibility and OpenX.
Next to web development, he's worked with a wide range of technologies (from database clusters to Internet backbone design) and worked a lot on high-scalability projects and on coaching/training web engineers.
He's currently the CTO at one of the leading European locker companies for luggage storage and festivals and music venues.

WHAT WE PLAY. We play social interaction games : Dixit, Codenames, Werewolf, Secret Hitler, Exploding Kittens, Bang...They are fun to play with and easy to learn. We gather on Mondays for strategic games, but you are free to play strategic games on Thursdays and Saturdays as well.
SCHEDULE. We will gather at 7 PM and have the introduction round at 7:15 PM. If you want to come later, don't hesitate. See the host, who will try to arrange it so you can find a table. You may have to wait for a game to finish to join the next game.
WHAT TO BRING. As usual, a good vibe ! we will play the games that people bring. Don't hesitate to mention them in the comments. When the location is in the park, you can also bring snacks and drinks and something to put under your royal buttocks because the lawn is sometimes a bit wet.

Our Site Building with Etch class provides detailed instructions on the philosophy of the Etch development framework, as well as in-depth, hands-on instruction on using the Etch environment and associated tools. Anyone familiar with Kevin Geary and the Digital Gravy set of products will tell you that they offer ground-breaking approaches to professional WordPress site development.
As we write this, the Etch toolset and environment are rapidly taking shape, with weekly quantum leaps forward in WordPress development methodologies. As early investors in the Etch product offering and its development process, we are actively testing and evaluating the toolset as it takes shape.
