Day DJ is a weekly series at Villa Vida Café. Every Friday, local DJs take over the space and play daytime sets in an open, low-pressure environment. The focus is on new talent, experimentation, and community. This is not a typical club setting. You can drop in to listen, work, meet people, or stay for the full set. The idea is simple: create a consistent platform where DJs can develop their sound and connect with others. DJs have always played a central role in queer culture. In spaces where queer people were excluded, DJs built environments where identity and expression could exist. Through music, they shaped rooms, created connection, and guided shared experiences. Many of the sounds that define nightlife today come from queer communities, especially Black and Latinx scenes. House, disco, and club culture were not neutral developments—they were created in specific social contexts. Day DJ continues this lineage by making space for new voices and keeping that culture active. Day DJ Dee Diva, a Vienna based artist of Caribbean and American descent, strives to bring a new vibe to nightlife with a mix of the latest hip hop and club music, that is, not-so-serious music to dance to, think funky, amapiano, baltimore, grime, afrobeats, hard drum, perreo, dancehall, baile and more. This is our weekly event! Hey Badminton Enthusiasts! This meet-up is for all levels: beginners, intermediates and experts. Everyone is welcome to join, test their skills and have some fun together! The host will reserve courts in advance, that means please only register if you really plan to come (or cancel at least 24 hours before the event starts). The fee for this event is 12€ (for the 2 hours). If you plan on paying in cash, please bring the exact amount as the host might not have any change available. We are meeting at about 10:55 am near the reception by the lounge area (next to the courts). Come a bit earlier so you have time to change into workout/sports clothes. The locker rooms are free to use, but for the men lockers you need a padlock - or you can also take your bag of clothes upstairs to the courts if you do not have a padlock. Also, bring clean indoor sports shoes, your racket and a water bottle with you. There is a drinking fountain available if you need to replenish your bottle. If you do not have a racket, it is possible to rent rackets from the club, if necessary (3€). Sometimes the host or other members have spare rackets - please ask in the comment section below! If you are joining our events for the first time, WELCOME! Let the host know that you are new and they will find a place for you. Don't worry, we are an open and friendly group.
