Thursday Mafia Game & Social – Beginner – London Bridge
Thursday Mafia Game & Social – Beginner – London Bridge
**Welcome to UK Mafia!** **🕵️‍♂️ What is Mafia?** Play the game that 'Traitors' is based upon! Mafia is a 10-player social game, competitive, easy to learn, and played at multiple tables. Each player gets a secret role and works with their team to win. Games last about 45 minutes, so we play many during the day. The **Mafia team** tries to hide and eliminate the **Citizens**, while the **Citizens** try to find the Mafia through deduction and logic. We always have first-time players and explain everything. No experience needed. While this is a beginner-friendly game, we also host tournaments and online events with players from around the world. We even organise trips abroad to meet and play with other Mafia clubs ✈️ *** **[How to Play?](https://bit.ly/HowToPlayMafia)** We will teach you how to play when you arrive. You will quickly see that the game has two phases: 🌙 **Night:** * The Mafia secretly targets a Citizen * The *Don* (Mafia) learns if a player is the *Sheriff* * The *Sheriff* (Citizen) learns if someone is Mafia ☀️ **Day:** * Each player says in their turn who they think the Mafia are * Then, everyone votes publicly to eliminate one player The game continues until the Mafia are eliminated or they outnumber (or equal) the Citizens. We will explain all the rules at the venue, and you’ll pick it up. Want to learn more about the game? See our wide range of resources, including brochures and videos: **[https://bit.ly/EMF-TIPS](https://bit.ly/EMF-TIPS)** *** **🌍 Why Mafia?** Mafia is a global game played by over 15,000 people in 50+ countries, with clubs, tournaments, websites, and federations, like the [English Mafia Federation](https://bit.ly/EML2025) and the [Mafia World Cup](https://www.youtube.com/@MafiaWorldCup/streams). --- **❓Questions -** Message any admin, anytime! --- \- Mafia Tips\, Rules\, Videos\, Resources: **[https://bit.ly/EMF-TIPS](https://bit.ly/EMF-TIPS)** \- Watch games and lessons here: **[https://www.youtube.com/@MafiaWorldCup/streams](https://www.youtube.com/@MafiaWorldCup/streams)** **Contact UK Mafia Club** \- UK Mafia Club Instagram **[https://www.instagram.com/uk_mafia_club/](https://www.instagram.com/uk_mafia_club/)** \- UK Mafia Club YouTube **[www.youtube.com/@UKMafiaClub](http://www.youtube.com/@UKMafiaClub)** \- UK Mafia Club Telegram Channel **[https://t.me/UK_MAFIA_CLUB](https://t.me/UK_MAFIA_CLUB)** \- UK Mafia Club Telegram Chat **[https://t.me/UK_MAFIA_CLUB_CHAT](https://t.me/UK_MAFIA_CLUB_CHAT)** \- UK Mafia Club Discord **[https://discord.gg/fQM7duV96D](https://discord.gg/fQM7duV96D)** \- UK Mafia Club Email **[ukmafiaclub@gmail.com](http://ukmafiaclub@gmail.com/)** \- UK Mafia Club Mafgame profile **[https://mafgame.org/clubs/79/view](https://mafgame.org/clubs/79/view)** **Contact the Mafia World Cup:** \- Mafia World Cup Instagram **[https://www.instagram.com/mafiaworldcup/](https://www.instagram.com/mafiaworldcup/)** \- Mafia World Cup Facebook **[https://www.facebook.com/mafworldcup/](https://www.facebook.com/mafworldcup/)** \- Mafia World Cup Telegram **[https://t.me/Mafia_World_Cup](https://t.me/Mafia_World_Cup)**
JavaScript London in Collaboration with Omnea
JavaScript London in Collaboration with Omnea
Hi JavaScript London, We're thrilled to host the 1st meet-up of 2026!! We are kicking off the year with Omnea hosting at Wave Talent's offices in Shoreditch. We have some fantastic tech talks lined up, there will be plenty of pizzas 🍕, and of course drinks 🍻, plus plenty of networking with fellow tech enthusiasts. Don't miss out on a night of great conversations and new connections! **Address:** 14 Bonhill Street London, EC2A 4BX **Registration -** You know the drill by now!! Please register via Meetup and also via the website as we need to give a list of attendees on the night. [https://www.javascriptlondon.com/](https://www.javascriptlondon.com/) **Talks:** **1st Talk:** [Tynan Byrne](https://www.linkedin.com/in/tynanbyrne/) \- Software Engineer at Omnea\. **Topic: "Stop Guessing: How to Actually Know Your AI Feature Isn't Useless"**" You tweaked your AI prompt. Your teammate suggested adding markdown. Your manager wants to try Claude instead of GPT-4. Is it better now? Worse? Nobody actually knows. In this talk, I'll show you how to use an eval loop to iterate on AI features with confidence. We'll take a simple AI tool and improve it live - changing prompts, running tests, and watching scores update in real-time. You'll see which changes actually help and which just look different. Then, I'll show you how we do this at scale at Omnea: hundreds of test cases, continuous experimentation, big AI features used by the likes of Monzo and Spotify. You'll leave knowing how to judge your AI features with data, not just vibes." **2nd Talk:** [N. Nain](https://www.linkedin.com/in/nnain/) \- Lead Engineer at Indie Gaming **Topic:** **"Introducing TypeScript into a codebase owned by hardcore C++ / Rust engineers (and the politics involved)"** When I joined an indie gaming studio as Lead Engineer to build a new Web Engineering team, I assumed my biggest challenges would be technical - porting and integrating with an existing Rust and C++ codebase. I was only half right - as it turned out the real challenge wasn’t the code, but the developers behind it! Tonight, I’m not just gonna talk about the two languages I personally love, but the people - and the artificial tribes that formed around them. The technical challenges and misconceptions. The arguments. The (occasional) shouting. And the stranger-than-fiction lengths people went to, just to prove a point. Funny, tragic, and over the top - but everything works out in the end? Welcome to modern software development at work. **Full agenda:** 6:00 PM: Doors Open. Grab a pizza slice, sip a beer, and start chatting with other attendees. 6:30 PM: Welcome remarks by Sam, Richard and Justin 6:35 PM: First talk 7:05 PM: Toilet break 7:15 PM: Second talk 8:00 PM: Closing remarks and an optional pub visit! **Directions to WaveTalent:** The closest train station: Moorgate or Old Street **Sponsor**: **Omnea:** Omnea is a London-based AI-native procurement technology company that builds a platform to streamline how organisations buy goods and services, manage suppliers, and control spend through automated workflows and embedded governance. Founded in 2022 by Ben Freeman and Ben Allen, Omnea replaces slow, manual procurement processes with an intelligent system that lets employees make requests conversationally while routing approvals across finance, legal, IT, and security teams. Since its launch, Omnea has experienced rapid growth, driven by strong enterprise demand for AI-powered procurement solutions. Over the past year the company has grown revenue 5× and more than tripled its headcount, adding high-profile customers across North America and Europe, including Spotify, Albertsons, Wise, Adecco, and MongoDB. Omnea’s growth has been supported by significant venture funding, including a $20 million Series A round led by Accel in 2024 and a $50 million Series B round in September 2025 co-led by Insight Partners and Khosla Ventures, with participation from Accel, Point Nine, First Round Capital and Prosus —bringing total funding to over $75 million to accelerate its vision for AI-powered Supplier Relationship Management (AI-SRM) and expand hiring across the US and UK. Backed by world-class investors and trusted by leaders across tech and enterprise, Omnea is positioned as a fast-growing innovator in the procurement and supplier management space, transforming an often-fragmented business function into a strategic advantage.

🚀Explore The Night Sky + Post Pub Drinks🔭(Subject to Weather)🪐
🌌Ever look up and marvel with insatiable curiosity at both the beauty and wonder of the **universe?** That wild sobering thought that somewhere in the chaos of creation - the emergence of life - the universe became **conscious** enough to look back and ask the existential questions; How it all started, our evolution and place in it, and where else in the cosmos other complex life might exist (we know almost every star you see has planets orbiting with up to **20 billion habitable exoplanets** easily in our galaxy alone!)? 🪐🌟🌟🌟 🌍Then RSVP to view the potential life harbouring moons of **Jupiter**, comets, the famous **Orion Nebula** where stars like our sun were born, the majestic rings of **Saturn**, the international space station, well known star fields, remnants of **supernova** witnessed by our early ancestors, multi-star solar systems (think the double sun in Starwars), the Tau Ceti star with **2 Earth like planets** orbiting in the habitable zone, plus a range of other fascinating celestial wonderments (comets, galaxies) over drinks and engaging chats and banter this Jan fully hosted by a passionate amateur astronomer and former global Journalist covering big picture stories including cutting edge science related ones. 🚀In between observing - we'll have **drinks and engaging chats** on all astronomy related topics for those inclined - space exploration, Fermi Paradox, Astrobiology, Cosmology, paleontology, SETI/Drake Equation (I have my own augmented version giving more realistic estimates of likely alien civilisations!), exoplanetology etc as well as non space chatter and banter too. No doubt we'll hear the usual jokes we've all heard before! If those don't make you laugh, my impersonation of Los Angeles ET will! 👽 And to help set the mood and make the night feel even extra galactic, I’ll put my DJ hat to play some space‑themed tunes and songs about the stars! **======= Joining Astronomers Group & Telescopes =======** I'm able to take a limited number of people (please only RSVP if you can make it) to join my friendly informal relaxed London amateur astronomers' club that have been for over a decade with their regulars made up of up to about 150 people. As there will be people attending from this private Astronomers group as well as others from one of my other groups - the total attendees will be far higher than rsvps here and the public liability insurance only covers a max number of people - hence I need to impose strict limits on attendance. Over the years we have enjoyed numerous social evenings of stargazing and thought provoking chatter with people of all ages and varying levels of astronomy knowledge - so complete beginners that are genuinely curious about the universe are very welcome. If you are just looking to meet generic randoms then there are others groups that will better cater for that. The world renowed **BBC Television Sky at Night** also attended our events pre covid and interviewed some of us for it's show that aired on BBC1 in Feb 2019. BBC **Radio London** (94.9 FM / digital) were there Aug 2023 to cover our meteor shower event broadcasting live to millions of Londoners for 3 hours You don't need a telescope as you will be able to view through scopes belonging to me and other club members (as long as you behave responsibly and don't temper with expensive equipment). If you have your own telescope/binoculars feel free to bring along and I can help you setting it up if you're a newbie **==== Food & Drinks With Seating From Warm Indoor Cafe ====** Alcoholic beverages (wine, beer, cider only), hot drinks and food/snacks will be available to purchase from an indoor cafe at the observation point which Regent's park keep open exclusively for the astronomers group so please don't bring your own drinks **==== ITINERARY =====** We will meet outside Camden Station. After a short wait for anyone delayed, I will escort everyone to our observation point in the local park 15 minutes walk away and brief you in terms of what to expect, observing etiquette, tips, equipment handling and take any questions you have - weather general or astronomy/cosmology related. **After Drinks:** Unless I have a very important 9AM Thursday deadline for a client presentation or something that I'm still gonna be writing 2 mins before start - most of us usually head our way back to Camden for another drink. If so - I will annouce the pub when we leave the park **==== What Can You Expect To See (this time of year)? ====** * Orion Nebula * Jupiter and 4 moons * Meteors * Andromedia Galaxy * Saturn, rings & moon * Star clusters such as the Pleiades & Owl Cluster etc * International Space station fly by * Venus & Mercury * Binary & tripple star systems (think planet *Tatooine in* Starwars!), * Neptune * Uranuus * Mars * Our moon * A look towards the galactic centre where that supermassive £22b Labour black hole sits (Sagittarius A) More here from Jodrell Bank Observatory/Astrophysics Centre: [http://www.jb.man.ac.uk/astronomy/nightsky/](http://www.jb.man.ac.uk/astronomy/nightsky/) Guide to viewing the cosmos for beginners: [https://phys.org/news/2018-05-universe-distant-starstips-cosmology-backyard.html#jCp](https://phys.org/news/2018-05-universe-distant-starstips-cosmology-backyard.html#jCp) **===Weather Dependent=====** The event is subject to clear skies forecasts on the night so if on the actual afternoon of the event the weather forecasts looks unsuitable beyond doubt then I will postpone so please check the event status on the day of the event . If this event is still listed here at 5PM on the day, it will be going ahead at the designated day and time! Happy Stargazing Lucas Skywalker - The Singin, Dancin, DJ-in Astronomer

The London Dungeons & Dragons Meetup
**\*\*\* PLEASE READ ALL OF THE BELOW \*\*\*** WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO TAKE PART? **You *must* RSVP using the Attend button on this page.** That's true for both DMs and players. You must be **18+** to attend. Please find **Zander**, the Organiser, on your arrival. You'll then be assigned to a game. TIMES Please ensure you arrive **before 1.00pm**. If you arrive late, it may not be possible to find you a game. If you're part of a group of two or more, you all have to be 18+, RSVP for yourselves (no 'plus ones') and arrive between 12.30pm and 12.40pm on the day, not 1.00pm. If you arrive at 1.00pm, you'll still be able to play, but may be placed in different games. DO I NEED TO KNOW THE RULES OF D&D? DO I HAVE TO BRING OR PREPARE ANYTHING? **You don't have to have any knowledge of D&D's rules or have previous experience of D&D or another tabletop role-playing game.** You don't have to bring or prepare anything. We can lend you everything you need including a pre-generated character. If you want to bring or create your own character, please arrive at 12.40pm and discuss your character with your assigned DM. Please respect their decision in the unlikely event that they say you have to use a pre-generated character. They may have story or rules reasons they can't disclose. DUNGEON MASTERING We're always on the look-out for DMs. If you'd like to DM, please PM Zander in the Organiser list ASAP. VENUES AND MONEY MATTERS There's no charge, membership fee or subscription so that no one is excluded because they can't afford to. However, a collection tin may be circulated by the Organiser/Assistant Organiser/Host towards the running of the Meetup for everyone who isn't very hard up. **There's a recommended donation of £2 cash per attendee (DM or player)**. To maintain impartiality, we don't track or record who donates what (and for that reason, only cash is accepted; donations by Paypal, card, e-payment etc aren't accepted). The venues are businesses and, as such, rely on us spending on food and drink while we are there. Our continued use of the venues is dependent upon it. Please spend as much as you reasonably can; if you're thinking of having lunch at your venue, please do. The venues have vegetarian and vegan options. The venues accept payment by card, cash, Apple Pay and Google Pay, so please bring one of those. Please do NOT bring drink from outside except tap water in a transparent plastic bottle. Please do NOT bring food from outside. Bringing food or drink (except tap water) from outside can result in you being permanently banned by the venue's management. HYGIENE If you're ill or suspect you're coming down with a contagious sickness such as covid or flu, please do **NOT** attend. If you're unwell, you may be asked to leave. DOGS AND PETS Guide dogs are absolutely fine. Other dogs and pets aren't permitted. \~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~ If you have any questions not answered above, please PM Zander, the Organiser.
Sunday Dungeons & Dragons Meetup
Sunday Dungeons & Dragons Meetup
WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO TAKE PART? You just need to RSVP using the button on this page, and show up on Sunday. That is true for both DMs and players. You must be 18+ to attend. If this is your first time or looking to join a game, please find the Sunday Hosts Edward or Jason on your arrival. We will point you towards a game you can join. **Unless you have spoken to Jason or Edward beforehand about reserving tables/rooms at the pubs, you are NOT allowed to do so. I cannot state the importance of being able to rotate the availability of the rooms with other attendees/general pub goers in case the Pub needs them.** **The rooms should only be used by attendees who have a group plus DM or attendees who are DMing on the day. Otherwise I will assign you to the tables around the pub. This is non-negotiable.** TIMES Please ensure you arrive between 12:30pm and 1.00pm. **If you arrive later than 1pm, it may not be possible to find you a game.** I'VE NEVER PLAYED BEFORE, IS THAT A PROBLEM? Nope! You do not have to have previous experience of D&D or another tabletop role-playing game. We will have newbie-friendly games on Sunday. WHAT DO I HAVE TO BRING? Nothing. If you have dice, paper and pencil, and a Player’s Handbook, then bring them, but it’s not a problem if you don’t. We can lend you everything you need including a pre-generated character. I'M NOT FROM THE UK, THAT ISN'T A PROBLEM, RIGHT? Actually, we have loads of members from other countries; at times, we’ve had more ex-pats than Brits. We get a lot of people joining who’ve just moved to London from another country, left their old D&D friends behind, and who are looking for a new gaming group, so you don’t need to worry about not fitting in. The one catch is that your English does need to be OK. You don't have to be perfectly fluent, but roleplaying’s a language-based activity and if your listening isn't decent you may have trouble following what’s going on. Lots of our members speak more than one language, but we can't guarantee that we can place you in a game with someone who can interpret for you. DUNGEON MASTERS We are always on the look-out for DMs. If you would like to run a game, please PM Edward_w or Jason Sia. HYGIENE & ANTI-COVID GUIDELINES If you are symptomatically ill or suspect/know you have caught covid in the last 10 days but are asymptomatic, please do NOT attend. Please wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth and/or a face shield whenever possible. This is not a rule, merely a request. Please avoid sharing food. Please wash your hands and/or use hand sanitiser gel frequently. Please maximise social distancing where possible and keep social mixing to a minimum. If you test positive for covid after attending an event, please contact Zander the Meetup Organiser, immediately. If possible, please let Zander know your Dungeon Master's name. If your venue has stricter rules than those outlined above, please follow those rules. **VENUES AND MONEY MATTERS** There is no charge, membership fee or subscription. However, a collection tin may be circulated by the Organiser/Assistant Organiser/Host towards the running of the Meetup. There is a recommended donation of £2 cash per attendee (DM or player), but contributions are purely voluntary: you are under no obligation. We do not track or record who donates what (and for that reason, donations by Paypal etc are not accepted). **The venues are businesses and, as such, rely on us spending on food and drink while we are there**. Our continued use of the venues is dependent upon it. Please spend as much as you reasonably can; if you are thinking of having lunch at your venue, please do. The venues have vegetarian and vegan options. Please do NOT bring drink from outside except tap water in a transparent plastic bottle. Please do NOT bring food from outside. Bringing food or drink (except tap water) from outside can result in you being permanently banned by the venue's management. Guide dogs are absolutely fine. Other dogs and pets may not be permitted subject to the discretion of the Pub Staff & Organisers. If you have any questions, please post it in the comments below or PM Edward_w or Jason, the Sunday Hosts.

The White Cliffs of Dover: Dover to Deal in the winter
Alright guys, some of you have asked me to do it again as it is my most popular and one of my most beautiful hikes, so here we go! I am taking you again to hike the White cliffs, my top number 1 hike. This hike is always full and there is a reason to this, it is just a fantastic place and one of the most beautiful in England. And as for now, it is supposed to be a sunny day! One of Britain's most popular locations and a well known view from the mainland tourists who travel through the English Channel from France, Belgium or the Netherlands . The chalk cliffs between Dover and Deal are a stunning location with some marvellous Sea views and seaside towns . You will see castles, beaches and will cross path with its inhabitants, the ravens, peregrine falcons or long eared owls if we are lucky. We have also been lucky a couple of times with the visit of harbour porpoises and Common dolphins who often swim along the coast. The landscapes are some of my favourite, and this trail is a feel good hike where you will be able to see the white and grey cliffs of France just across the sea on a clear day once we have reached the cliff top. We will have a proper break on the beach at St Margaret Bay where you could grab a hotdogs, ice cream or a pint of beer in the pub that is the closest to mainland Europe... As always, we will hike, we will laugh and we are likely to end the trip at a restaurant afterwards, so get ready for a lovely day out with stunning views! We will finish the trip at a delightful Turkish restaurant, one of my favourites with those who wish to enjoy the day to the fullest INFORMATION: DISTANCE: 13.5 miles/20km TIME:5-6 hours TRANSPORT: By train; we will buy an off peak group days return that will allow us to save 35%on the ticket price. The seals in Norfolk are truly one of Britain's most special sights. Without any doubt, they're an incredible WOW factor and one that you must see! Date/Time: Sunday 8 February 2026, 3 – 8pm (and likely later!) 20% off food and drink for our group First-timers: please see notes below on the Meetup fee, bringing boards, etc. ☺️ Dear Backgammon Lovers, We had a great turnout again on Sunday, and a big thank you to Lydia for covering the first few hours - much appreciated! Eight of our backgammoners headed to Steve’s jazz event on Monday and had a blast. Wouldn’t it be fabulous to combine backgammon and jazz someday? Well, maybe! We’re delighted again to announce our next social backgammon gathering at Gest Restaurant in Euston. For as long as they'll have us, we'll continue to use the CSC on other dates when available. Gest has become a favourite spot for our lively and friendly backgammon gatherings, offering more space and a relaxed atmosphere, with very wsrm and welcoming staff. Social Backgammon Whether you’re a seasoned player or completely new, everyone’s welcome. Our Sunday afternoon offers a mix of friendly competition, laughter and the occasional lucky double six. Add food, drinks and easy conversation, and you’ve got the makings of a relaxed afternoon rolling dice into a fun evening. 20% off food and drink Following intense negotiations, Gest has kindly offered our group 20% off food and drink for this event. Please support the venue by ordering at least a drink and a bite to eat during the session, as this will help us to maintain such a generous deal in a comfortable atmosphere. About Our Backgammon Group Our group started in June 2015 and has now run more than 400 official meetups plus over 200 informal gatherings. We are a few short of 2,000 members, we’re the largest backgammon group in the UK, and we're known for our warmth, humour and friendliness. We typically meet fortnightly on Sundays, with around twenty or so regulars along with new players each time. Everyone is welcome, whatever your level. Dinner, drinks and playing time We usually sit down for a relaxed group meal around 6pm, but you’re free to order whenever it suits you. Many people arrive early, stay late, and dip in and out of games between food and drinks. RSVP Please RSVP as soon as you can, as it really helps with planning, especially at this popular venue. Bring your own board If you have a backgammon board, please bring it. If you don’t, just post a note on the Meetup page or message me and we’ll match you up. It’s always fun to see the variety of boards people bring along. Meetup fee £4 per person. This small contribution helps pay Meetup, cover tip, admin, hosting and other organisational costs that keep the group running smoothly. Etiquette Let’s keep things friendly and respectful over the board, and please thank the lovely Gest staff for hosting us. If anything crops up during the event, just have a quiet word with me. Backgammon rules We play under international backgammon tournament rules, with one or two minor exceptions. Full details are on our Meetup page. Contact If you need help finding the venue or have any questions, call or text me on 07956 263451. Please avoid sending Meetup messages within two hours of start time, as they may not be seen in time. Looking forward to rolling dice and sharing another brilliant Sunday with you all – and to celebrating the New Year at Gest for the fifth time. Best wishes, Chris Sattaur 🤗
