What is a Friend?
What is a Friend?
Friendship is one of the most important parts of human life. We seek friends, rely on them, celebrate with them, and mourn their loss. Yet the nature of friendship is surprisingly difficult to define. What makes someone a friend rather than merely an acquaintance? Is friendship based on affection, trust, shared experiences, mutual support, common values, or something else? Can friendships survive profound disagreements? Do we owe our friends special loyalty, and if so, why? This meetup will explore questions such as: * What is a friend? * Why do human beings seek friendship? * What makes a friendship genuine? * Are some friendships better than others? * Can friendship exist without reciprocity? * What causes friendships to grow, fade, or end? No prior knowledge of philosophy is required. Bring your curiosity, experiences, and questions as we investigate one of the oldest and most enduring topics in philosophy. Description by ChatGPT
Restorative Forest Experience - Seurasaari
Restorative Forest Experience - Seurasaari

Some invitations focus on noticing and kindly accepting your own thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations. The method, developed in Finland by Mrs. Sirpa Arvonen, combines researched nature-based health effects with simple mind-skill practices and is suitable for everyone, regardless of age, fitness level, or previous experience. Leave the forest feeling grounded, refreshed, and more connected to yourself and your surroundings. **Program details:** *WHEN:* Thursday 11th of June, starting at 14.30 and ending around 17.30 *LOCATION:* Seurasaari Island – about 3,5 Km on designated forest trails (easy access, paths available). *MEETING POINT:* I will meet you just before the white bridge in Seurasaari, (you will see the bridge when you get off from the bus). *AGE:* over 18yo ***PLEASE NOTE***: the activity will take place with sun or rain. Full Circle
Full Circle
Full Circle is a community of practice where mental health and wellbeing professionals come together to learn, share, and grow. If you’re a mental health or wellbeing practitioner who thrives on shared wisdom and community, Full Circle offers a space where you can connect, grow, and bring fresh insights back into your client work. **Full Circle is for professionals who work with clients in mental health or wellbeing** (e.g. psychotherapists, counsellors, art therapists, coaches, and others integrating mind–body approaches) . A community of practice is a space where we come together as professionals to share our experiences, challenges, and insights, not to be taught, but to learn from each other. Full Circle is about connection, not workshops. It’s a circle of peers, not a classroom. **By registering for this event, you agree to stand by our shared principles:** * Confidentiality: What is shared in the circle stays in the circle. * Presence: We give our full attention to each other, listening deeply. * Respect: Every voice matters; we value different perspectives and approaches. * Curiosity: We come to explore, not to give definitive answers. * Contribution: Everyone is encouraged to share practices, cases, and reflections. * Commitment: We show up consistently, knowing the community grows through regular participation. **How our gatherings work**: We gather **once a month** in person, and every time we move through the same process: * *Check-in*: We begin by going around the circle, with each person sharing what’s present for them in the moment. * *Shared practice*: One member of the community leads the group through a method, exercise, or embodied practice from their own field. Everyone experiences it first-hand. * *Integration dialogue*: Together, we explore what the practice brought up and how it might be woven into our client work. * *Check-out*: Each person shares one insight they will carry with them.
Board Games at Arkade (Thursday)
Board Games at Arkade (Thursday)
Pay the **5 € board gaming fee** to the bar at the counter when you arrive. You must be at least 18 years old to enter [Arkade](https://www.arkade.fi/). We play in English and the game rules are taught before starting play, unless everyone is already familiar with the game. No previous experience with board gaming required. Despite our RSVP numbers here on Meetup, we almost always have at least 20 people participating weekly. The venue has a great board game library, the host and other players usually bring their own games too: our selection varies weekly. We're a very casual group so you're welcome to arrive early or late and join whatever game is starting up, there is no attendance tracking, or welcoming process. The bar has alcoholic drinks, mocktails, and soft drinks available as well as some snack foods. They've been okay with people ordering food to the bar with meal delivery services. If you are feeling sick, please stay home.

Breakfast #2: How We Learn
Breakfast #2: How We Learn
**Helsinki Testing Breakfast — Meetup #2: How We Learn** We all got into testing somehow. But how do we *keep* getting better? This Saturday we're sitting down with coffee to talk about the learning side of the craft — books that actually changed how you think, courses worth the time, certifications (hot take welcome), YouTube rabbit holes at midnight, and how you stay sharp when the industry moves fast. No structured agenda. Just testers talking about testing — and the people, resources, and habits that shaped them. **Bring your:** * favourite book or resource recommendation * your opinion about ISTQB * questions you've been googling lately All experience levels welcome — whether you've been testing for 6 months or 16 years, you've learned something worth sharing. See you!
Haskell Library Workshop
Haskell Library Workshop
**Will take place in Oodi library, group room 8.** **The main event page for signing up: [https://jarkkaa.fi/events/20d7c2a9-5380-4f6b-8508-1d9ced68724b](https://jarkkaa.fi/events/20d7c2a9-5380-4f6b-8508-1d9ced68724b)** The room we have reserved in Oodi has rather strict attendee limit of 10 people. The recommended way to sign up is using the link above. Main description text copied from the event page listed above: The Helsinki Haskell Users Group has not had the opportunity to actually use Haskell as a group so far, at least in the time that I have been a participant, so it is high time we corrected that! The idea behind this workshop is that we gather together to place the foundation for, and hopefully build onward from there, a library for general use in the Haskell ecosystem. As things stand, we have elected to write a library working with bidirectional parser-generators, so one definition to both be able to parse data of a given form and to generate such data. We, the organisers, offer space, a general plan of how to tackle the topic, a repository for the work (please set up a [GitHub](https://github.com/) account if you do not presently have one) and general oversight of the process with hopefully fitting some programming time ourselves just as well. You, the participant, bring Haskell code and possibly some snacks for yourself. Eating and drinking is allowed in the room, though be mindful of potential allergies. Oodi also has a cafe from which more can be bought with money. Hope to see you there!

Wine Tasting - Newcomers Night
Wine Tasting - Newcomers Night
This is "***New Members Night***." If you are one of the many folks on the fence about coming to your first wine tasting with the *Hilliard Wine Club*, this is the night to come. There will be many other new people, so you won't be alone. And the regulars will be there to help make you feel welcome. We're a relaxed and warm group. We hope to see you. **SIDE NOTE:** New members are welcome to ALL our Friday night wine tastings, but this night is a special overture to those who don't want to feel that they are the only new person in the room. Don't worry. You won't be. And don't hesitate to RSVP to other events. **OLD MEMBERS NOTE**: Hey Old Members! You're not excluded from this event. We expect to see you there to help make the new members feel welcome. **Sample 4 different wines** this Friday for $15 (*Cash or Venmo only please*). Glasses are provided. Bring a snack to share. Bring a bottle to share if you care to. See all the details below for the Hilliard Wine Club Wine Tasting. In Person. In Real Life. Actual Wine from glass bottles with corks and everything. **Wine**: Tastings will be $15 for four samples as always. And you are welcome to bring a bottle of your favorite wine to share with others. Participation in the wine tastings is optional. But since you’re going, I will buy enough wine to cover you. If you bring your own wine and do not participate in the tasting you will only pay $10 to cover the door charge. **Parking**: There are several public parking lots near the Alive614 hall. Please be careful to NOT park in private parking lots. They do tow. Check Google maps to scope out your space. Anyone who is early could easily find a parking space on the street nearby. **Glasses**: …will be provided. Please note that after the wine tasting, the glasses need to be returned to the boxes at the service table. Please be gentle, our glasses are fragile. Uh, they are made of glass! **Food**: You are welcome to bring a snack to share. It is not required. Most people do though. If no one brings anything, there will be nothing. **Code of Conduct**: Though mostly understood, it’s still worth mentioning. We don’t have rules per se, but we highly discourage the following topics of discussion because they are likely to incite anti-social responses - Sex, Politics, Religion. Please don’t mistake this as an attempt to limit your free speech rights but rather a guide to a place and time for appropriate discussions. **Extra Wine**: After everyone has had their samples, we remove the pouring spouts and any remaining wine is poured freely to whomever wants it. I hate having leftover wine. **Queen of Hearts**: The Queen of Hearts raffle is a fundraiser for the club and a Barnum and Bailey type extravaganza - minus the dancing ponies, clowns, and actual circus. Bring your ***cash*** as the Queen does not accept American Express or other plastic. **After the lights go out**: After the last sip of wine, when we clean up and turn the lights out, if you still haven’t had enough of us, it is typical for a group to get together and go to a local eatery for food and/or drinks or coffee. Again, We look forward to meeting new members and reuniting with old friends. Sincerely, ***Paul Uttermohlen***, **Red 1 Realty** *Your Hilliard Wine Club Host*

I am told that the Chase parking lot is safe after hours. **Glasses**: …will be provided. Please note that after the wine tasting, the EMPTY glasses need to be returned to the boxes at the service table. Please do not make me hunt down your empty glass. Again, We look forward to meeting new members and reuniting with old friends. Sincerely, ***Paul Uttermohlen***, **Red 1 Realty** *Your Hilliard Wine Club Host*

Loose Tea Tasting
Loose Tea Tasting
Please join Columbus Tea Lovers for a tasting of loose leaf teas at a private residence in Worthington. (The address will be sent out via private Meetup message a day ahead to those who have RSVP'd.) June 20th is the Worthington Arts Festival so feel free to attend that event which is down the street in addition to the tea party. For this tasting please bring a tea or tisane (an herbal brew that contains no tea leaves) does not come in a prepackaged tea bag. You can feel free to bring it pre-brewed in a carafe or thermos; please leave out the milk and sweetener as we will have some on hand to mix and match. We will have the kettle on and fillable single serve disposable tea bags if you would like to bring the tea leaves unbrewed and extra tea cups on hand as well. We welcome you to bring snacks or desserts that are you enjoy pairing with tea. You can bring a chair if the day is nice in case we sit outside. There is a cat in the house, so be aware in case of allergies. If you want to write in the chat what you plan to bring so we don't have a lot of the same thing, please do so!
