Please join us this Sunday to discuss truth and the pragmatism tradition. We will meet at the Captain Melville at 2pm for a 2:15pm start sharp.
The pragmatism tradition is a philosophical tradition originating in 1870s America that evaluates ideas, theories, and beliefs based on their practical consequences and real-world usefulness. It asserts that truth is not absolute but is an evolving tool for problem-solving, continuous adaptation, and effective action. Key thinkers involved include Pierce, James, Dewey, Rorty and Putnam.

There is no pre-requisite preparation necessary, nor a philosophical background, all that is required is a curious mind. Melbourne, itâs time to clip in, roll out, and flirt shamelessly with the middle suburbs.

RA50 Walk - Fairfield Park - Main Yarra Trail
**Fairfield Park â Main Yarra Trail**
This week we return to the popular **Main Yarra Trail** and walk the trail from **Fairfield Park Boathouse** along the riverbanks to Abbotsford Convent and return. Weâll walk past Dights Falls and watch the slalom kayaks tackle the river rapids.
At the halfway point, weâll stop for coffee at The Convent CafĂŠ, a delightful outdoor cafĂŠ in the gardens.
**Start:** Fairfield Park Boathouse â car park. Meet at the toilet block adjacent to the carpark.
**Start time:** 9.00 AM
**Parking:** If above carpark is full park in Additional Carpark in **Yarra Bend Rd** (Polytechnic). Parking is FREE on Sunday. If parking here, allow 5 minutes to walk back to the START.
**The Walk**: The walk follows the Merri Creek to Dights Falls, then the Yarra River around to the Childrenâs Farm, where weâll have coffee at the Abbotsford Convent. The return to our cars will be back along the same Trail.
**Total distance**: 6.0 km. (approx.)
**Time:** Allow 2.0 hours for the walk, plus half hour for coffee. Total 2.5 hours.
**Difficulty:** Easy
**Toilets:** At the start, plus halfway at the Convent cafĂŠ.

Enter the park from Cleveland Avenue and stay on the main park drive until it dead-ends into a turn around parking lot. We will meet at the Schrock Lake Shelter just off this parking area to the right.
We will be taking a Guided Walk with access very near the shelter, on the Edward S Thomas trail, an ADA flat, hard-packed gravel surface trail. This walk will be led by Carrie Keller, Outdoor Naturalist at the park, and Megan Richley, Inclusion Coordinator for the Metro Parks.
Wear sneakers or other shoes covering the entire foot.
Sandals or flip-flops are ill advised.
Sighted guides will be available.
Target audience for this group is persons who are visually impaired, especially those who have experienced recent loss, however, all are welcome, including family members and supports. Light refreshments will be served.

Learn where painful experiences are âstoredâ and how they can unknowingly affect us. You will also find out how one can âeraseâ those past painful experiences so that one is free to move forward without being tripped up by the past. Learn too, about what can lead some people to become âtoxicâ personalities and how to identify those traits in others so you wonât be tripped up trusting the wrong person.
Our free Meet-ups occur in a safe environment where one can learn, without fear of judgment or criticism, and without the recommendation of harmful mental techniques or therapies, just how YOU can get yourself onto a happier & more successful path: in love & in life.

Men's Group meetup
**The idea for this group is to build a community where men can gather together and build connections & learn and grow from each other.**
How we start each meeting is by each of us checking in with our "roses and thorns" aka what are the good things and the bad things going on in your life recently?
Then we will go into a topic discussion.

1. Confidentiality - EVERYTHING that is shared NEVER leaves this space so that this space remains safe and sacred. There is a zero tolerance policy for this. If a man is in violation of this, they will be permanently removed from the group.
2. Non-Judgement - we respect and honor every manâs truth so that we may receive the same from others. While we may not agree on everything, we commit to respecting every manâs perspectives and engaging in honorable discussion with one another.
3. Be committed - honor your commitment to this group and to yourself. If you attend a meeting, please commit yourself fully to the meeting. Also be committed to your own journey. When we fail, we own it & clean it up.
4. Speak from the heart - this is NOT a space to âlook goodâ, have the ârightâ answers, and have it all together. Relax and know you are not alone. Be exactly who you are within the safety of this space.
5. Be supportive - This means always willing to provide encouragement to your fellow men, encourage action and momentum in each otherâs lives.. Be willing to challenge each other. Be willing to hold each other accountable.
6. Participation - what you receive from this community will be a reflection of what you put into it. Period. We ask that you share your perspectives, reflect on others, and give/receive support when and where itâs needed.

Book summary:
On a hot day in Bethlehem, a twelve-year-old Palestinian-American girl is yelled at by a group of men outside the Church of the Nativity.
