This is an opportunity for volunteers to support a professional mechanic as he guides customers working on their own bikes. If you know how to do some basic repairs, that's a plus, but even if you don't, you can greet customers and manage who gets helped next. Feel free to attend for only a portion of the time if you can't be there the whole three hours. Please note that this event is not usually an opportunity to learn about bicycle repair, since the mechanic tends to be very busy helping customers, especially during the warmer months. But it's a great way to contribute to Velocity, since almost all the funding for the volunteer program comes from the work done at the shops.

🌱 Origami Seed Pot Workshop Saturday, April 11 10:00 AM Many gardeners start seedlings in small plastic containers that eventually get thrown away. In this workshop we’ll learn a simple and practical alternative: folding biodegradable planting pots from ordinary paper grocery bags. Using a traditional origami-style fold, we’ll turn brown grocery bags into sturdy seed-starting pots that can go directly into the soil when it’s time to transplant. The folded shape holds soil surprisingly well and breaks down naturally in the garden. This technique is simple, practical, and easy to repeat at home throughout the growing season. Tormas are traditional ritual food offerings, usually made from marzipan, that are offered to the Buddhas in a variety of ritual practices, including empowerments, retreats, and chanted prayers. By making these offerings, we create powerful causes for spiritual attainments, motivated by compassion and the wish to benefit all living beings. In this hands-on workshop, **Jana Stanley** from KMC Florida, who is skilled in making tormas, will guide us step by step in learning this beautiful and meaningful art. The workshop will be informal, practical, and enjoyable, and is suitable for everyone — whether you are experienced or completely new to torma making.
