**Our website**: [Kenjutsu Berlin - Official school of Katori Shinto-ryu in Berlin (katoriberlin.org)](https://katoriberlin.org/)
**Katori ShintĹ-ryĹŤ** is one of the oldest Japanese sword fighting traditions (koryĹŤ) still practised today and is recognized by the Japanese government as a cultural intangeable asset. The school was founded in the middle of the 15th century by Iizasa ChĹisai Ienao at the Katori Shrine (Katori jingĹŤ) and has become the origin of numerous other martial arts schools over the course of its almost 600-year history.
The training consists of the continuous repetition of fixed sequences of movements (kata) and includes the use of classic Japanese weapons such as the sword (iai-jutsu, battĹ-jutsu, ken-jutsu, ryĹtĹ-jutsu, kodachi-jutsu), the long staff (bĹ-jutsu), the lance (naginata-jutsu) and the spear (sĹ-jutsu), as well as unarmed disciplines, tactics and spiritual aspects.
**The Katori Berlin dojo** is the only official shibu of Otake Nobutoshi-shihanâs dojo Shinbukan in Germany and fully dedicated to the transmission and study of one martial tradition: TenshinshĹ-den Katori ShintĹ-ryĹŤ. Through these efforts we aim to contribute to the cultural preservation of this martial tradition. The dojo has one officially appointed shidosha.
**Our sensei**: Sebastian Graetz has been active in martial arts since 1997. After almost 15 years of taekwondo in Berlin, he started with Katori ShintĹ-ryĹŤ in Asia in 2014. Since then, he has studied in Japan with Ĺtake Risuke-shihan and Ĺtake Nobutoshi-shihan, and in Vietnam with Malte Stokhof-shihandai. In 2023, he received his Menkyo license and permission to set up a training group in Berlin the following year.

Productive Sunday Morning - Co-Working Session (Deep Work, all work welcome)
Hey everyone!
Iâm organising a co-working + socialising session for all of us who like to work on something (e.g. our own project, freelance or remote work) but don't feel like sitting alone at home. đ
To ensure that we have both **socialising** AND **working**, we will be using the so called âPomodoroâ technique:
**50min of deep work** (silent), followed by **10min of break** to socialise. Then repeat! If you get into flow, you're also welcome to skip the breaks.
Itâs an effective way to stay focused - you can read more about it [here](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pomodoro_Technique).
Anyone from any background is welcome, whatever project you are working on or whatever is your personal background.
I (the host) speak English and German, so either is fine :-)
ââââââââââââââââââ-
AGENDA:
* **15min Intro**
* Get to know everyone, talk about what you will work on today
* **Pomodoro Session** (3x) - *Each Pomodoro session consists* *of...*
* ...**50min** of uninterrupted âdeep workâ (no talking, no interruptions, no phones)
* ...**10min** of break: share your progress with others, talk about what you are stuck on etc.
* Repeat
* Conclude and celebrate your progress
Share your progress, socialise and get to know others đ
ââââ
We'll be at the Social Hub Berlin (they have a food menu in case you get hungry). The structured part will end at 2:30pm, but you're welcome to stay longer, go for lunch together, or leave earlier. See you there đŠľ
**\*\*We'll reserve the long table. Please update your RSVP in advance if you can't attend!\*\***

Networking & Language Exchange -đinternationalđť
This is a 3 phase meetup. You can come at any time.
1.) 6:45 -7:00 p.m.: Gathering at the meeting spot (see gmaps link!)
2.) 7:00 - 7:30 p.m.: Walk & Talk to the Kerb food court.
3.) 7:30 - 10:00 p.m.: Immerse conversations in the Kerb food court.
đŞ: Reserved tables for the meetup.
**1.) How to the find Quartier 205 Stadtmitte:**
[https://goo.gl/maps/6Fhft3LbPhcEsQrdA](https://goo.gl/maps/6Fhft3LbPhcEsQrdA)
The exact meeting spot can be seen in the photo below!
We meet on the 1st floor where the trash sculpture can be seen. Look for a meetup sign or organizer wearing a black or red lanyard with "staff" written on it.
**2.) Walk & Talk to the Kerb food court**
The best part. This time we'll walk all the way to Checkpoint Charlie, pass the Gropius Bau and end at the former Sony Center where our final destination - the Kerb food court - is located.
**3\. How to find the Kerb food court**
[https://maps.app.goo.gl/xJTQg9oBoGL67syz7](https://maps.app.goo.gl/xJTQg9oBoGL67syz7)
Kerb is located at the former Sony Center. The new flagship food court of Potsdamer Platz. Most likely we will be sitting upstairs on the first floor next to the bar (take the stairs to the left).
***Best ways to get there:***
1\. U2 \(subway\):
Get off at Potsdamer Platz and walk around 7 min to Kerb.
2\. Bus M41 or M85
Get off at Potsdamer Platz and walk 5 min to Kerb.
*Who is this meetup for:*
1\. Internationals who want to practice German or any other language\.
2\. Germans who want to improve their language skills\.
3\. Anyone who is interested in cultural exchange and wants to socialize\.
*What you can expect:*
1\. A professionally organized meetup that can adapt to any changes given the current situation\.
2\. A Walk & Talk to break the ice\.
3\. A collaborating venue where you can further socialize with other members\.
*important:* This event is at the same time and meeting location like the "Asian Languages & Culture Exchange đćĽćŹčŞ, íęľě´, ćąčŻđĽ" one. So I'm basically organizing 2 events at the same time which means that you can expect way more people than on the list.
***
Whenever you attend a meetup, the most common as well as first question you get is: "Where are you from?"
You probably heard this question a million times. Well, at least I did.
From my own experience of attending over 200 international meetups in various countries such as Germany, Japan, Australia and Thailand, I can tell you that asking for the name is a better approach.
âA personâs name is to that person, the sweetest, most important sound in any language.â - Dale Carnegie
If you really want to connect with like-minded people you should remember their name, but you don't have to remember every persons name you've talked you. Be picky about that, don't be me who can somehow remember everyones name easily.
Don't tell yourself sth. like "I'm bad at remembering names." It's all about developing the habit of asking for a name and keep the conversation going on.
Furthermore, you want to learn German or any other language. Learning the local language is crucial to connect with the locals and developing a true friendship.
This can be accomplished with immersion. My goal is to inspire you to go out of your comfort zone and improve yourself each time you join this meetup.
Sunday Tech Coffee Meetup
Welcome to Sunday Tech Coffee. This is a **networking** event for those in the tech industry in Berlin.
We are usually inside and to the right. Ask the barista/bartender if you can't find us.

Making Moves: Small-Group Coaching for Women in Product

**What moves are you making?**
A promotion youâre working toward.
A role change youâre considering.
A bigger leadership opportunity.
A conversation that needs to happen.
A decision thatâs been sitting in the back of your mind.
For our Q1 Women in Product Columbus event, weâre creating space to actually work through those moments.
**Making Moves** is an evening of focused, facilitated coaching conversations with experienced mentors from our local product community. This isnât a panel. Itâs not passive networking. Itâs small-group dialogue designed to be thoughtful, practical, and worth your time.
Hereâs how it will work:
⢠Youâll choose a topic that reflects what youâre navigating right now
⢠Youâll join a small coaching circle (5â7 participants)
⢠Each circle is led by a mentor who has lived experience in that area
⢠Weâll run two rounds so you can go deeper or explore a second conversation
### Coaching Topics:
⢠Communicating the Value of Your Work (or Team)
⢠Career Transitions & Whatâs Next
⢠Growing Into Leadership
⢠Staying Relevant as Technology (and AI) Changes
⢠Getting Alignment and Decisions from Leadership
Our goal is simple: you leave with clearer thinking, practical perspective, and at least one next step you feel confident about.
Space in each circle will be limited to keep conversations meaningful.
If this sounds like the kind of room youâve been wanting to be in, weâd love to see you on March 10.

CBusData - Discover the Power of Window Functions
Window functions have nothing to do with the Windows operating system but provide a âwindowâ to a result set when used in SQL queries. They are powerful, set-based methods to view data in unexpected ways. Window functions provide easy, set-based solutions to solve some common problems:
* Using running totals
* Performing operations in intervals
* Identifying data gaps and islands
* Performing aggregates without losing detail
Many people are confused by window functions and do not know how to use them properly. This session will explore window functions, how they work, and how to use them. Demonstrations with several examples will solidify how window functions can simplify queries and make them more powerful.
