Pablo Dominguez, A Tribute: Iberian Colours, Javier Ruibal, Chano Dominguez
In collaboration with the Instituto Cervantes and guitarist [Maria Camahort](https://mariacamahort.com/perfil/), Tuned In London presents a special fundraising tribute to London’s late great guitarist and percussionist Pablo Domínguez from Cadiz, featuring his fellow musicians, his friends and family: [Iberian Colours](https://mariacamahort.com/mcq-iberian-colours/), a quintet project sprung from a multi-genre collaboration of Spanish musicians who seek to bring to classical Chamber Music inspiration from the vivid colours, rhythms and textures of Spanish musical art and traditions. Award-winning guitar (Maria Camahort), soprano (Laura Ruhí-Vidal), cello (Sergio Serra), violin (Violeta García) and Pablo Domínguez' percussion (Demi García Sabat) come together to create something of great charisma and personality. Their set will include the première of a piece composed for Pablo.
[Javier Ruibal](https://www.javierruibal.com/), exceptional singer songwriter, composer, poet and writer, awarded the Premio Nacional de las Músicas Actuales 2017, collaborator and neighbour of Pablo, who has performed at Ronnie Scott's, WOMAD and the Union Chapel, will be bringing us his stunning voice and guitar, his deeply moving poetry, melodies and lyricism.
Our special guest, [Chano Domínguez](https://chanodominguez.com/), father of Pablo, is an acclaimed and much-garlanded composer and pianist who brings a fusion of jazz and flamenco to his world-renowned innovative playing.
On February 3rd, 2025, guitarist and percussionist Pablo Domínguez (Cádiz, Spain) passed away as a result of a serious illness. One year later, his presence is still deeply felt in Spain, here in the UK and across the world, and this concert stands as a tribute to his genuine spirit and singular musical voice. City Hope Church is the venue in which he performed the last of his seven Tuned In London concerts.
This will be VERY SPECIAL... we will celebrate Pablo in the company of his friends, his family and his fellow musicians. Do come, do tell your friends about it...
We will also be hoping to raise funds for Pablo's wife and young children who will be present. So even if you can't attend, you might donate...
Tickets are available on the [Tuned In London websit](https://tunedin.london/)e.
Hope you can come.
Doors open at 6.15 when the bar will be open. Music from 7pm.
Political Readings, Live Music, Dialogue, Iranian Food
Spotlight on Iran: an evening of political readings, live music, dialogue, and a fusion of Eastern European and Iranian food.
*How do we come together in collective power when, by design, our attention is violently split between different geographies?*
**Co-learning in Public** is a new event series dedicated to alternative political education through shared practices, lived experience, and collective learning. With each event, Eastern European histories and issues are brought into conversation with struggles and lessons from other regions, working towards transnational solidarity.
The first event sheds light on Iran at a time when the uprising sparked by the collapse of the country’s currency was met with disproportionate violence, especially augmented by US threats. Revolution is no stranger to Eastern Europe. We know well the seduction of neoliberal ideas of freedom, where liberation is built on alignment with Western models. We also know, through feminist and anti-violence movements, that isolation is a deliberate tactic used to obstruct paths toward genuine freedom. Iran is being sealed off.
During the evening:
* Writer, curator, producer, and former political prisoner Aras Amiri will read and discuss her latest text, *The Eros of Revolution in Iran,* which looks at how movements like Woman, Life, Freedom grow out of and continue the struggles of the 1979 Revolution
* Saxophonist Omid Amiri will perform a mix of Persian, Eastern European, and contemporary jazz throughout the evening
* Aras Amiri will facilitate a conversation with the audience about the rise of the far right across different geographies, and how people are organising collectively in response (through unions, art collectives, social and political groups, university spaces, and beyond). You are invited to bring a short text to read (fiction, non-fiction, or theory), or to share a personal experience that feels relevant
* A fusion of Eastern European and Iranian food will be offered at the start of the evening.
**WHEN**: Friday, 27 February 2026, 7pm
**WHERE**: Event Space, Pelican House, 144 Cambridge Heath Road, E1 5QJ London
### ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
**Aras Amiri**
I am an Iranian writer, curator, and art producer, born in 1986 in Amol. I grew up in the language and nature of Mazandaran. The meanings of the 1979 revolution, my parents’ love of music, art, and folklore, their leftist library, and the suppression of the regime formed my understanding of the world. My childhood imagination found its ground in writing which has stayed with me-when I was writing regularly, participating in literary scenes in Amol and Tehran, and during periods when I no longer wrote stories.
Since moving to the UK in 2007, I have curated exhibitions of Iranian contemporary artists, published critical writing, and worked as Art Manager for Iran at the British Council, producing collaborative and international projects across artforms and publishing poetry, short stories, and a bilingual art magazine.
Imprisoned in Iran from 2018 to 2022, I wrote poetry and fiction and completed my MA dissertation, *The Truth Content of Art and Its Relation to Freedom*, under Peter Osborne’s distant supervision. I now live in Jersey, co-founded The Moving Arts Collective, and continue to write in Farsi.
**Omid Amiri**
I am an Iranian musician and music educator. I was born amidst the beautiful nature of the Mazandaran region, where the forest, the sea, and the mountain come together. I was raised in a politically active family with a profound admiration for the arts, yet I grew up during the dark times of post-revolution Iran. My first two years were spent missing my imprisoned father, and I entered a society where social freedoms and the arts were strictly limited, all while a war raged with a neighboring country.
In a time when carrying a musical instrument in public was forbidden, I found my sanctuary in music. Thanks to my music-loving and audiophile father, I spent my youth practicing freedom, expression, and imagination through playing piano and listening to sounds from diverse cultures and different music styles. Music became my greatest passion and remains my way of life up to this date.
Later in my musical growth, I was deeply influenced by Black American Music—what the Western world knows as Jazz. I was first moved by the richness of this music itself, and then by its history of resilience. I studied BAM formally at ARPEJ Paris and I was mentored by the likes of Tony Kofi and Michel Goldberg, and have spent the last 22 years performing across the scenes of Tehran, Paris, and London. My repertoire spans BAM, Blues, Rock, Soul/R&B, African, Latin and Middle Eastern music, Persian fusion, and electronic music, often collaborating with poets and performance artists.
For the past eight years, I have shared my love for music through saxophone lessons, music theory, and BAM history classes plus leading ensemble workshops. My musical journey is one of self-discovery, connection and sympathy. I have a deep desire to fuse different sources of music, finding joy in the interaction and unity and plural expression. To me, music is a service to humanity. I believe the intent and the soul are far more important than technique; humanity, honesty, and love are what truly enrich a musician’s creation.

🚀Explore The Night Sky + Post Pub Drinks🔭(Subject to Weather)🪐
🌌Ever look up and marvel with insatiable curiosity at both the beauty and wonder of the **universe?** That wild sobering thought that somewhere in the chaos of creation - the emergence of life - the universe became **conscious** enough to look back and ask the existential questions; How it all started, our evolution and place in it, and where else in the cosmos other complex life might exist (we know almost every star you see has planets orbiting with up to **20 billion habitable exoplanets** easily in our galaxy alone!)? 🪐🌟🌟🌟
🌍Then RSVP to view the potential life harbouring moons of **Jupiter**, comets, the famous **Orion Nebula** where stars like our sun were born, the majestic rings of **Saturn**, the international space station, well known star fields, remnants of **supernova** witnessed by our early ancestors, multi-star solar systems (think the double sun in Starwars), the Tau Ceti star with **2 Earth like planets** orbiting in the habitable zone, plus a range of other fascinating celestial wonderments (comets, galaxies) over drinks and engaging chats and banter this Jan fully hosted by a passionate amateur astronomer and former global Journalist covering big picture stories including cutting edge science related ones.
🚀In between observing - we'll have **drinks and engaging chats** on all astronomy related topics for those inclined - space exploration, Fermi Paradox, Astrobiology, Cosmology, paleontology, SETI/Drake Equation (I have my own augmented version giving more realistic estimates of likely alien civilisations!), exoplanetology etc as well as non space chatter and banter too. No doubt we'll hear the usual jokes we've all heard before! If those don't make you laugh, my impersonation of Los Angeles ET will! 👽
And to help set the mood and make the night feel even extra galactic, I’ll put my DJ hat to play some space‑themed tunes and songs about the stars!
**======= Joining Astronomers Group & Telescopes =======**
I'm able to take a limited number of people (please only RSVP if you can make it) to join my friendly informal relaxed London amateur astronomers' club that have been for over a decade with their regulars made up of up to about 150 people. As there will be people attending from this private Astronomers group as well as others from one of my other groups - the total attendees will be far higher than rsvps here and the public liability insurance only covers a max number of people - hence I need to impose strict limits on attendance.
Over the years we have enjoyed numerous social evenings of stargazing and thought provoking chatter with people of all ages and varying levels of astronomy knowledge - so complete beginners that are genuinely curious about the universe are very welcome. If you are just looking to meet generic randoms then there are others groups that will better cater for that. The world renowed **BBC Television Sky at Night** also attended our events pre covid and interviewed some of us for it's show that aired on BBC1 in Feb 2019. BBC **Radio London** (94.9 FM / digital) were there Aug 2023 to cover our meteor shower event broadcasting live to millions of Londoners for 3 hours
You don't need a telescope as you will be able to view through scopes belonging to me and other club members (as long as you behave responsibly and don't temper with expensive equipment). If you have your own telescope/binoculars feel free to bring along and I can help you setting it up if you're a newbie
**==== Food & Drinks With Seating From Warm Indoor Cafe ====**
Alcoholic beverages (wine, beer, cider only), hot drinks and food/snacks will be available to purchase from an indoor cafe at the observation point which Regent's park keep open exclusively for the astronomers group so please don't bring your own drinks
**==== ITINERARY =====**
We will meet outside Camden Station. After a short wait for anyone delayed, I will escort everyone to our observation point in the local park 15 minutes walk away and brief you in terms of what to expect, observing etiquette, tips, equipment handling and take any questions you have - weather general or astronomy/cosmology related.
**After Drinks:** Unless I have a very important 9AM Thursday deadline for a client presentation or something that I'm still gonna be writing 2 mins before start - most of us usually head our way back to Camden for another drink. If so - I will annouce the pub when we leave the park
**==== What Can You Expect To See (this time of year)? ====**
* Orion Nebula
* Jupiter and 4 moons
* Meteors
* Andromedia Galaxy
* Saturn, rings & moon
* Star clusters such as the Pleiades & Owl Cluster etc
* International Space station fly by
* Venus & Mercury
* Binary & tripple star systems (think planet *Tatooine in* Starwars!),

Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for March is "Our Bodies, Ourselves"
Speak Easy: true stories, told live.
The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast.
Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect.
The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!
Oscar International Nominee: SIRAT at the Gateway Film Center
Join us as we get together to see SIRAT, an Oscar-nominated Best International Film from Spain that follows a father, accompanied by his son, goes looking for his missing daughter in North Africa. Here’s a description, trailer and our plan for this event:
DESCRIPTION: A father, accompanied by his son arrive at a rave deep in the mountains of southern Morocco while searching for his daughter who vanished months ago at one of these endless, sleepless parties. As their search continues, the journey forces them to confront their own limits. The film is directed by Oliver Laxe and stars Sergi Lopez, Bruno Nunez Arjona and Richard Bellamy.
TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ww-IXHXvS70
BUZZ & ACCLAIM: SIRAT has already won numerous awards, including 4 at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, along with the Chicago, Montclair and Toronto International Film Festivals! It also earned a whopping 11 nominations at the 40th Goya Awards, including Best Film and Director, and was nominated for Best International Feature Film and Best Sound at this year’s Academy Awards. The film is earning a stellar 92% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes which calls it “an unforgettable exercise in tension” and “a brutal reminder that the journey can be more important than the destination.”
PLAN: We’ll plan for a 7pm-ish showing and will confirm/announce details as the date gets closer. Once showtime is confirmed, advance purchase (via GFC website preferred) is advised! Once you have your ticket, please list your seat number in the Comments section of this event.
PARKING: Close, convenient parking is available in the nearby garage (located between 9th and 11th, just off High St). Bring your ticket with you and have it validated at the theater and for $2, you’re covered for the night!
Look forward to seeing you there, Dan
Raising Conscious Kids – A Unity Family Experience
At Unity of Columbus, our Youth and Family Ministry nurtures the spiritual growth of children and families through love, joy, and practical spiritual teachings. Each Sunday, children explore timeless spiritual principles through stories, creative activities, music, and group sharing in a safe and welcoming environment.
Our program encourages children to discover their own inner light, express kindness, and develop a personal connection with God. Together, we celebrate diversity, cultivate understanding, and inspire each child to live with purpose and compassion. Parents and families are invited to join in this uplifting journey of learning, laughter, and spiritual connection.
Humanist Program: Fighting the Efforts to Insert Religion into Public Education
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event.
Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk.
Our March speakers are Molly Gaines and Zack Parrish, co-organizers of the Secular Education Association:
They will share their story of how a small group of Ohio parents grew into a national organization tracking released-time religious instruction and other church–state issues in public schools. The presentation will cover SEA’s early wins and hard lessons, what we’re seeing nationally right now, and how local advocates can play a meaningful role in protecting public education. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the landscape — and practical ways to get involved.
Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. You can meet us in-person or attend online
