En avril, le sujet sera la spontanéïté et l'expressivité du dessin! Seront privilégiés les dessins à l'encre (feutres, grands ou petits). Ce premier cours nous permettra de nous défaire de certains de nos automatismes de contrôle, afin de dessiner franchement et sans retour en arrière! Ce qui nous sera bien utile pour le reste du cycle. On se retrouve à 19h30, mais qui veut peut arriver au local à partir de 19h pour grignoter, discuter! Il y aura du thé et du café pour qui veut, il faut retirer ses chaussures car c'est une salle de danse (donc les bottes à lacets attendront une autre soirée). Paiement en espèces (25€), sur place, et il y aura un chapeau pour qui veut donner un peu plus au modèle! Le matériel n'est pas fourni. Hâte de vous y voir! 🙂

Should we sacrifice ourselves for a war, for an ideology?! Is participating in a war a moral and human necessity? Join us in Paris for an evening of thoughtful conversation over coffee as we explore the themes around the human cost of war. Throughout history, individuals have been called to fight, to believe, and sometimes to die in the name of something greater than themselves. But what does it truly mean to give one’s life for a cause? But it is ambiguous to decide whether that sacrifice holds meaning, or even if it is necessary. The literature of war is very vast. In this gathering, we will reflect on the tension between ideology and humanity and the fragile line between heroism and tragedy, or the human sacrifice of war. This is a themed book club with no required reading, but if you’d like inspiration, here are some works that engage with these questions: * Le soldat désaccordé * For Whom the Bell Tolls * All Quiet on the Western Front * The Things They Carried * Slaughterhouse-Five (And many more that explore war, martyrdom, and the meaning of sacrifice.) The main entrance of the shopping center opens onto stairs/elevator leading up to the 2nd floor cafe section where we will have a table displaying a sign with the Shut Up & Write logo. Writing is largely a solitary craft. Practicing with others in a community setting may be the thing you need to fire your own routine. We’ll meet on Wednesday evenings, starting the clock at 6:30, following a brief period of introductions. This is solid writing time and all inclusive. Any project is acceptable, be it fiction, non -fiction, work or homework assignment. All is welcome and will remain private to you. The market boasts a Starbucks, a full service bar and various affordable food options. Parking is plentiful, free Wifi is provided as well as outlets for charging your devices, though they are somewhat limited, so plan accordingly. Show up as early as you like, or stay late. This group tends to socialize some, both before and after the alloted time, but this is not mandatory to you. Feel free to come and go as you please and late arrivals are welcome.
