🦹西九卡巴萊節《Taylor Mac美國音樂240年》+😋小食夜宵 (Cabaret Movie + Night Snack @Austin)

Taylor Mac: an American actor, playwright, performance artist, director, producer, and singer-songwriter active mainly in New York City.
This riotous film documents New York theatre legend Taylor Mac’s joyous, challenging and ostentatiously queer 24-hour performance art concert “***Taylor Mac’s 24-Decade History of Popular Music***” charting American history through reinterpretations of popular songs, cutting banter, drag spectacle and queer ritual.

June discussion - "Five Decembers"
Our book for June 2026 is *Five Decembers,* by James Kestrel, winner of the 2022 Edgar Award for Best Novel.
“War, imprisonment, torture, romance…The novel has an almost operatic symmetry, and Kestrel turns a beautiful phrase.”
*New York Times*
*"Five Decembers* is a gripping thriller, a staggering portrait of war, and a heartbreaking love story, as unforgettable as *All the Light We Cannot See*."
From the publisher
*December 1941. America teeters on the brink of war, and in Honolulu, Hawaii, police detective Joe McGrady is assigned to investigate a homicide that will change his life forever. Because the trail of murder he uncovers will lead him across the Pacific, far from home and the woman he loves; and though the U.S. doesn’t know it yet, a Japanese fleet is already steaming toward Pearl Harbor.*
This month’s discussion will be held at Commaa in Sheung Wan on the 7th of June @ 2:00 pm. Please note: the café asks that for large groups, guests buy at least one beverage per person ($60 minimum). They have a selection of sweet treats, coffees, teas, and other drinks available for purchase.
After the discussion, we will choose the next book by group vote. Please bring your suggestions for future books!
Informal Filmmakers Meetup & Drinks
We will be meeting at Forever Lounge in Causeway Bay on Sunday, June 7th. We will begin with informal introductions, where you will have the opportunity to talk about yourself and your background, experiences and/or goals).
Your host Ben will introduce a new topic, and finally we will wrap up by discussing any projects we are working on or would like to get started. The emphasis is always on the creative, artistic, and collaborative aspects of filmmaking.
All are welcome, and no experience is necessary. Questions and opinions are always encouraged. If you have any materials (scripts, showreels, raw/edited footage, etc.) that you would like to share, please feel free to bring it along, but all you will need is enthusiasm and confidence!
Forever Lounge is near Tin Hau MTR station (exit A1), at 176-178 Causeway Road, Causeway Bay 銅鑼灣銅鑼灣道176-178號地舖

AI Workshop Beginners
Hi guys,
I write a free newsletter about AI, tech, entrepreneurship, and Hong Kong called *Better Read Paul* ([Paul Muller | Substack](https://substack.com/@paulmuller)).
While working on it, talking to founders, and seeing how people actually use AI day to day, I kept noticing the same thing: there’s a lot of excitement about AI, but very little practical guidance.
At the same time, AI has become a big part of my own daily work. I use it constantly to move faster, think more clearly, and save time.
And that’s what pushed me to organize these workshops.
The idea is simple: very little theory, and as much hands-on practice as possible.
This is not a class where you listen to me talk for two hours, but rather a big conversation where I’ll show you how to use these tools (Claude Code, Nano Banana, ChatGPT, etc.), what you can do with them, and how you can apply them to your own workflow depending on what you do.
We will cover:
* How to use Claude Code to build a WordPress website and a simple program to learn a language
* How to use Claude to rewrite a LinkedIn post or any other social media content
* How to use Nano Banana to create a marketing canvas for any brand
Cost: 160HKD for 1h45
Place: Unit 280, 6/F Ping lam commercial building, 280-282 Lockhart road, Wanchai
Time: 11am-1pm, Saturday 6th June
What to bring: A notepad, your laptop (Only if you need help and already use some AI tools).
Please confirm your RSVP on WhatsApp, people who didn't won't be accepted.
AI can be incredibly useful, but there are a few things people don’t always tell you. Many tools are paid.
The results don’t always live up to expectations.
Some tools crash, go down, or need maintenance right when you need them most.
And many of them magically produce perfect output without effort.
So in the end, the real questions are: what actually slows you down every day at work?
Can an AI tool help with that? Is the quality good enough? And is it worth paying for, given the time you save?
That’s why I want to run these AI workshops, to help people understand how these tools really work, and to give them the space to experiment and apply AI to their own workflows in a practical and realistic way.

Magical Cleanup Service at One Shot Saturday (Tabletop RPGs)
**Magical Cleanup Service**
Magical accident happens, and we can't just hire some muggle cleaners to sweep it under the rug. While other "cool" wizards may save the world or teach at highly irresponsible education institutions, your job is no less important. Now go pick up your broom and cleanup some magical mess! Magical Cleanup Service is a Powered by the Apocalypse (PbtA) game made for #WizJam2k19.
**What Lies in the Salo Mines - A 6d6 Adventure**
The harpies have left your rations torn and your pockets dry. Neo Valos offers you refuge but it comes at the cost of a quest. A beast has invaded the Salo Mines, the town’s main copper source. There are no bodies and no signs of struggle. However, the miners who have returned are all hollowed out. Incoherent speech and faulty memories make up a shell of the person they once were. As olympians, the town has requested you to slay the beast and free them from its terror. What truly resides in the echoing, pitch-black labyrinth of the Salo Mines?
WHAT IS ONE-SHOT SATURDAY?
It's a weekly meet-up in Sheung Wan/Central, focusing on indie games and single-session games (one-shots). 而家所有游戏係英文嘅但如果你要嚟玩中文游戏,我哋會無任歡迎。只要湊啱玩家就行!
You can drop in and play at any One-Shot Saturday – you do not need to have played in a previous session or commit to playing again. Whether you've played an RPG before or not, you're welcome to join us.
Please arrive on time as once the games begin it becomes difficult to properly introduce latecomers.
Join the conversation, make plans, suggest games to play, etc. —

WHAT IS A TABLETOP RPG?
It's a game in which you never know where the next stop will be, because it’s all down to the decisions you and your fellow players make. Usually one person is the Game Master (or "GM"). Everyone else will be players, taking the role of the characters in the game. The players get to say what their characters say, think, and do. The GM describes everything else in the world.
Then... we play to find out what happens. The game is a conversation: I say something, then you reply, maybe someone else chimes in. We talk about what's happening to the characters we imagine and the world around them. We also talk about the rules, which help us decide what happens next if the next step is in doubt. The rules differ from game to game: some use dice to shape the story, others use cards or something else. It's always a conversation, though.

Shut Up & Write!™ Easton Town Center
We'll meet at The Capital One Café, 167 Easton Town Center, Space A-103. This is in the main mall where the Microsoft store used to be, on your left if you're standing at the bottom of the AMC Theater escalator.
Join us on Saturday for an hour of uninterrupted wordmaking!
• What we'll do
Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at 10AM on Saturday mornings.
Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.
SCHEDULE:
10:00 - SESSION 1: quick intros.
10:10 - timer starts: write for 1 hour.
11:10 - chat / take off / keep writing.
OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 11A-11:30ish. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.
BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. (I’ll be the person with the Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.
Happy writing and I look forward to seeing you!
• What to bring
Whatever you need to be able to write!
Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block noise or the occasional conversation by other patrons. Electrical outlets are limited, so charge your devices before whenever possible.

Shut Up & Write! Kingsdale Shopping Center
Greetings writers! Come down and join your fellow wordsmiths for one hour of uninterrupted writing time in the upper level of the Market District Supermarket in Upper Arlington.
The main entrance of the shopping center opens onto stairs/elevator leading up to the 2nd floor cafe section where we will have a table displaying a sign with the Shut Up & Write logo.
Writing is largely a solitary craft. Practicing with others in a community setting may be the thing you need to fire your own routine.
We’ll meet on Wednesday evenings, starting the clock at 6:30, following a brief period of introductions. This is solid writing time and all inclusive. Any project is acceptable, be it fiction, non -fiction, work or homework assignment. All is welcome and will remain private to you.
The market boasts a Starbucks, a full service bar and various affordable food options. Parking is plentiful, free Wifi is provided as well as outlets for charging your devices, though they are somewhat limited, so plan accordingly.
Show up as early as you like, or stay late. This group tends to socialize some, both before and after the alloted time, but this is not mandatory to you. Feel free to come and go as you please and late arrivals are welcome.
The cafe may be noisy on occasion so headphones/ earbuds are reccommended as you see fit.
Please try to RSVP if possible so that we may grab enough seats for all—the venue can be busy at times.
Feel free to message me privately wth any questions and/ or concerns you may have.
Happy writing!
