Attend Raleigh City Council Meeting to support a nomination to the RDUAA
Hosted by Triangle Off Road Cyclists (TORC)
Details
On May 7, 2019, at 7 PM, the Raleigh City Council will be having the city council meeting. A representative for Sierra Club (who also represents Umstead Coalition and TORC), will speak on behalf of many who oppose the construction of RDU Quarry at the Odd Fellows Tract near the Umstead State Park.
At this meeting, there will be vote for a new member of the RDU Airport Authority. The vote is between Sepideh Saidi (and old member of the RDUAA who supports the quarry) and our Nancy Pekarek, who is a business woman and supporter of Umstead State Park.
We cannot speak at this meeting (you have to sign up 2 weeks in advance), but numbers do speak volumes. Please also continue to contact city council on Nancy's behalf.
We would like for as many people to come to the event to show support by being present in numbers such that the city council can see just how many people will support the preservation of the forested land from irreparable damage that would no doubt harm the surrounding communities.
The city council meeting will take place May 7, Tuesday, at 7 PM, at the Municipal Building, 222 W. Hargett St., Council Chamber, Raleigh, NC 27601. (Wear green, so that it will be easier to find fellow supporters)
We hope to have your support in protecting the Odd Fellows Tract!
