Join us for a free introductory dragon boat paddling session!
Now that our dragon boats have been launched and are ready for the summer, we can hold an open-house paddle session for the public at our practice site! Anyone in Toronto, in the Beaches area in the east end or beyond, is welcome to join this FREE session at Outer Harbour (between Tommy Thompson Park and Cherry Beach) in the east end of Toronto.
We'll answer your questions about the sport, including how accessible the sport is to anyone of any age, gender, fitness level, sports experience, or disability. Dragon boating is a sport suitable for anyone as it's a 40-foot stable boat, and is powered by 20 paddlers (each at their level).
Come to our session to get a chance to paddle around scenic Outer Harbour in a dragon boat. We'll have two boats available and maybe even sneak in a short race between the two beginner boats.
Join in and learn a new sport, meet new people, get some exercise that is not difficult (everyone paddles at their level), and get some fresh air.
Participants should arrive at the site by 12:30 PM when our coaches will spend about 45 minutes talking about the sport and getting everyone a paddle and life jacket. The dragon boats will then be loaded up and launched for some easy paddling on the bay. We'll be done at about 2:30 PM.
The event is rain or shine, but we won't paddle if there is heavy rain, wind, or stormy weather.
There is parking nearby in a few places about a 5-minute walk away. There is no parking right at the practice site.
We have several community-level teams and one competitive team, all practicing on different days of the week so you can choose the one that fits your schedule.
