A LITTLE MORE ABOUT THE WHY'S AND HOW'S
This meetup group is created as part of a much larger project that I (Zeal) am trying to assemble. For now the group will ficus on young adults in their 20s & 30s. The bigger purpose is to address and tackle the epidemic of loneliness in our society. Any of you who may be interested may approach me freely and let me know if you want to be part of this project.
The problem of loneliness in our modern world and society is well documented, but at this time it is at a peak. Toronto is one of the loneliest cities in the world according to recent data (although more needs to be done on the research). Furthermore, personally I think in-person meetups plummeted in Canada since the pandemic, and the number of meetup groups also decreased. I could not find many meetup events in the East End in recent months, so I decided to create one.
What I hope to achieve from this group is to create a regular routine of having 2-3 in-person meetups a month (for most months) so that we can truly create a community that people can belong to. This is our best way of combating loneliness in big cities - deliberately coming together to form communities, learn about each other, accpet each other, share moments and memories together.
I aim to personally curate certain events to make things more fun. For example, speed friendship events (like speed dating, but a lot more casual and chill), cozy introvert hangouts, online gameshows, and perhaps city-wide scavenger hunts someday π .
This is not my first time doing this though. I have managed 2 meetup groups in the past (in Toronto & Vancouver), and have organized and managed events for 10+ years on and off. So, I do know some of the challenges we may face. That is also why some events will be PAID events - there is cost in hosting a meetup group, and organizing events.
In order to integrate this community further and share more opportunities to connect and participate, the group members will have access to a Discord server in the future.
WIth that being said...
Join us to connect with like-minded individuals and become part of not only fighting loneliness, but creating a genuine community together that may just become the best experience in your Toronto life! :)

This is our 1st outdoors event for The Guild, so I am very excited! ππ
I hope we can all enjoy a beautiful outdoor adventure together on a nice day!
Rouge National Park is the largest urban park in Canada and we are lucky to have it within TTC reach in Toronto! Interestingly, it is 22 times the size of Central Park in NYC. So, suffice to say that we will not be exploring the entirety in one shot π But, if you're interested, you can learn more about the park here: https://parks.canada.ca/pn-np/on/rouge
This is a beginner friendly hike, so we will not be hiking for 3 hours straight π we will go in a relaxed pace and stop for lunch at a suitable spot in the middle. We may hangout longer than 3 hours, but you are free to leave any time.
Respect is very important in our group, and any disrespect or harassment towards any member or the organizer will not be entertained. If you are new to the group pls make sure to review our GUILD #RULES.
PS: If you haven't joined our Discord Server yet, pls feel free to join and introduce yourselves. That is now our main platform of communication.
