What we’re about

Welcome to the Toronto Gardening with Indigenous Plants Meetup Group!

Gardening is a process of stewarding life, stewarding relationships between the soil, organisms, and water. Most of us in Tkaronto are settlers, or descendent of settlers, to Turtle Island. Gardening here has been dominated by colonial frameworks of value and aesthetics. This group is focused on exploring relationships of the more-than-human community that are Indigenous to this region in an effort to learn to steward the land. We welcome Indigenous participants, allies of Indigenous peoples, bioregionalists, and anybody who is curious about regenerative gardening and building resilient communities as we exit the Holocene. Whether you have a piece of land to steward or are exploring container gardening on a balcony, let's embrace the beauty of our environment together!
