About us
You know there’s more to life than this.
A deeper way of living. A quieter mind. A more meaningful experience of each day.
At the School of Practical Philosophy, we explore timeless wisdom — not as theory, but as something to be lived in everyday life.
Our signature course, Philosophy Works!, brings together Eastern and Western philosophy in a practical, accessible way. It’s for those drawn to life’s bigger questions, seeking clarity, purpose, and a greater sense of ease.
We are a not-for-profit community of ordinary people who have found real value in this work. All classes are led by long-term students who volunteer their time, sharing what they continue to practice themselves.
A simple meditation practice is introduced early in the course, and those who wish are supported in learning Transcendental Meditation — a natural, effortless technique practiced by all senior students.
We offer free introductory events and ongoing weekly courses, both in Toronto and online.
No experience is necessary — just curiosity.

Conversations with Plato: The Republic
29 Madison Ave, Toronto, ON, CAFor those who want to go deeper…
Why does a philosopher from over 2,000 years ago still matter today?
In this course, we explore Plato’s Republic not as an academic text, but as a living guide to understanding ourselves and the world we’re in. At a time when life can feel fast, uncertain, and often overwhelming, these teachings offer something steady, clear, and deeply relevant.
Together, we examine timeless questions around truth, justice, and wisdom — and why ancient insights may be more important now than ever. What does it mean to live well in today’s world? How do we stay grounded amidst noise, pressure, and constant change?
Classes are interactive and guided by experienced facilitators who are long-time students of the School. As a not-for-profit community, all facilitators volunteer their time, sharing something they continue to explore in their own lives.
This is not about studying philosophy.
It’s about using it.Try it out for one-week on Saturday April 25th, if you enjoy it, join the 8-week course
