Elon Musk Piñata Making Workshop

Join us at Hacklab Toronto to make your own space piñata! Our idea is to make "Elon Musk" piñata's so that then we can smash them and feel a little better our hero worship - and this is scheduled for January 20th because that's when shit is going to get real down south. But we're open to all kinds of space piñata designs, maybe you want to make a rocket? Or a space station? Or a planet? Anything space related is great! Suggested donation to attend (covers materials as below) is $10, but PWYC, nobody turned away for lack of funds.

We'll have materials on hand to make piñata's, like paper mache, chicken wire, paint, etc. But feel free to bring anything else you want - in particular, if you want to have something inside your piñata (little space ship candies?), that would be a great thing to bring! Our main idea for getting "Elon Musk" on the piñata's is to print images and then mache them onto the larger object; this scheme should be flexible enough to do lots of different things (not just Elon). In addition to the colour paper printer, Hacklab also has 3D printers, a laser cutter, a vinyl cutter, an electronics lab, a woodshop, etc... so lots of tools are available for your piñata hacking pleasure.

Workshop will run for 5 hours, 5pm to 10pm, which should give us lots of time - please come whenever works for you, no need to show at 5 or whatever, though we do recommend several hours in attendance - we're going to have a quick-drying papier-mâché recipe (using plaster), but if you want to smash in the same evening, you will need time for sure. We may also have a second event just for the smashing, depending how the workshop goes, and how precious about them we are :-)
