CSS in WordPress is Jam-packed with useful CSS Info
Details
My apologies for the misfire on the March 15th Meeting, but with some untimely help from the Meetup system we have had to reschedule. Also the late breaking news from Elementor and Brainstorm Force on their use of CSS Flexbox will now be incorporated into the new Meetup. So this rescheduled Meetup will truly be jam-packed with WordPress CSS news. And given the live demos, you should be able to find one or two CSS precious gems.
From its beginnings, WordPress has always used HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP But another early and continued mandate has been to make WordPress easy to use with "No Coding Required". This can be difficult In the case of JavaScript and PHP which have complex and sometimes very fragile syntax[one misplaced quote or missing semi-colon can lead to long debugging sessions].
But HTML and CSS which are largely command oriented with few conditional and looping constructs- are simpler but still challenging - particularly CSS which has more new design design tasks.
Even in the Classic Editor, knowing basic CSS commands can be useful.
This CSS knowledge is even more helpful when using the top 5-7 PageBuilders whose point and click styling options are one of the principal design and styling advantages that good Web Designers and Developers utilize all the time. In contrast, the Gutenberg Editor has a distinct weakness in its CSS styling capabilities - all of the current 40+ Core Gutenberg Blocks have bare bones CSS styling options when compared with the top PageBuilders and many popular plugins.
So this workshop will unveil some CSS styling workarounds that will help users committed to the Gutenberg Block Editor. The workshop will use the following outline:
· Introduction to CSS on the Web
· 3 key Website Guides to CSS
· Some current popular WordPress CSS frameworks
· 4 key CSS WordPress advisories
· Using PageBuilders to improve styling on your WordPress site
· Some key general purpose CSS Style Editors posing as plugins
· New Design directions- animations, motion display, JavaScript
· CSS styling Demos
Attendees who have some real world Design/Styling problems for our CSS tools - please send a message before the meeting and we will work on solving your problem live in the workshop.
CSS Design and Styling have become winning WordPress website features - this meetup is packed with all the key CSS info to tap into that opportunity.
The meetup is scheduled for 3 hours just in case the live demos take extra time. However, the bulk of the meeting will be done in 1 1/2 hours and the Powerpoint notes will be distributed to all attendees.
