What we're about

This is a meetup for those who want to explore Canada as it was meant to be explored... by canoe!!

Are you interested in canoe trips anywhere from 1 day to a week or more. Do you want to meet like minded people who also have lame loser friends who won't go on an Algonquin canoe trip with you??! This is the club for you.

This is the group to meet friends, singles, couples, etc who want to go on canoe trips to various provincial parks and crown lands around Ontario.

Don't have the skills, don't worry, pair up with someone who has em'. Don't have the equipment, don't worry, you can rent.

14-Day Wilderness Canoe Trip down Lawagamau River

Cochrane Railway Station

I am running Lawagamau River in June.

The river begins at Upper Lawagamau Lake and heads north through Lawagamau Lake and under Ontario Highway 652. It turns northeast then east, takes in the right tributary Hopper Creek, then once again heads north. The river takes in the left tributary Hoelke Creek, and reaches its mouth at the Kesagami River. The Kesagami River flows via the Harricana River to James Bay.

The plan is to drive to Cochrane and take a shuttle to the river put in (about 160km NE to Cochrane). We will paddle along Lawagamau River and stop at Washow Lodge at the mouth of James Bay, and take a watershuttle to Moosonee. From Moosonee we will take a train back to Cochrane. The trip will take approximately 14 days. Please contact me if you are interested.

PS. The trip is subject to re-opening of facilities which are currently closed due to Covid-19.

Algonquin Park 10-Day Challenge

Hay Lake Road

We are going to explore the very heart of Algonquin Park. The plan is we start at Hay Lake (Access Point # 16, south of HWY 60), travel north across the park and finish at Kiosk (Access Point # 29). The total distance is 144km with 48 portages (31km in length). We will stay on water for 10 days. Plus back and forth, the trip takes 12 days in total.

We will shuttle our own cars. We can re-fill ourselves when we cross HWY60 at the end of Day 3 and will take a break on Day 6 or 7 at Big Trout or Burntroot Lake. There are 6km+ portages on a couple of days and 5km+ on another two days. All portages need to be completed in one carry and please expect long days of travelling.

Due to its difficulty, the trip is not on first come first serve basis. Please discuss with me if you are interested. When time gets closer, I will ask for a deposit to cover the reservation and set up a group chat among those who have confirmed the trip for preparations.
