Hood River Fruit Loop Caravan Tour

Details
What better way to spend a summer day than driving the famous Hood River Fruit Loop! We'll safely maintain our social distance by driving (or carpooling with trusted friends) and make stops only at locations with open outdoor spaces.
We'll start the day with a drive into the Columbia River Gorge on scenic highway 14, Washington's more relaxed two lane highway, which constantly tempts you with views as we enter deeper into our local wonderland. At Hood River, we will cross back into Oregon and start the loop with a visit to Panorama Point.
Other stops will include:
The Gorge White House
A perfect stopping point for a taste of everything Oregon. They offer beer, wine, and cider sampling. Since you'll be driving your own vehicle, you can also grab a delicious bite to eat at their on site food cart. Depending on what's in season, you may be able to pick fruit or flowers while we're there.
Parkdale
We'll stop in the town of Parkdale with its in your face view of Mount Hood. I'll share with you a little history of the town and the excursion train that services this mountain hamlet throughout the year.
Lavender Valley
More pictures of Mount Hood only with a field of lavender in the foreground. Walk around and enjoy the fresh mountain air or shop for all things lavender in their gift shop.
Punchbowl Falls
If we're in the mood for it, we can enjoy a short 1.5 mile hike to Punchbowl falls, just outside of the town of Dee. This is a newly developed park with fresh trails to view two waterfalls.
Apple Valley Country Store
This is your chance for a late afternoon ice cream cone, a fruit pie to take home, or any other locally produced treat. Alternatively, you can just sit outside and listen the roar of the Hood River as it races down to meet the Columbia.
Columbia Gorge Hotel
We'll visit this historic lodge built at the end of the original Columbia Gorge Highway. You'll learn of the famous people who stayed here, view the windsurfers in the river below, and discover a hidden waterfall on the property.
We should be back in Portland between 5 and 6 pm, but you'll have your own car so you can head home whenever you're ready.
