Received update from the festival volunteer coordinator that they would take us that want to try volunteering, even as the 3-7pm slot is taken off line. So we are good.

By what we learned from our Sunnyvale festival, a few hours working shoulder-to-shoulder is the fastest way to turn strangers into friends. So two tracks to attend the festival:

Festival volunteer track:
For all those that could use new connections. The heart of the day. We take an afternoon shift as a crew, helping run the festival. No experience needed — you'll be paired up and shown the ropes. This year they didn't mention issuing volunteer T-shirt, so bring one if you have from other occasions.

Festival visitor track:
Walk to the festival, then walk together to each volunteer's post, attend the festival in groups, then regroup for group dinner together after volunteers' shifts ended.

The day:
☕ 1:00 — Meet at Bean Bag Cafe (601 Divisadero). Grab a coffee, find the crew, quick hellos out front. Come on time to do the start with the group, otherwise you would come in a room with relation already started.
🌳 ~1:30 — Stroll to the Painted Ladies. A short walk over to Alamo Square for the best skyline view in the city, a group photo, and proper intros on the lawn.
🚶 ~2:30 — Walk in together. A scenic ~15-minute walk up through some of SF's prettiest blocks, straight into the heart of the festival.
🎶 Afternoon — Into the festival. Group volunteering side by side, Live jazz across the stages, food from local kitchens, and new connections you have chatted and walked all the way.
🍜 ~6:30 — Group dinner in Japantown. Festival's right next door to some of the city's best ramen and izakaya — we'll find a table and keep the good company going.
✨ Staying for the fireworks? (Optional & Info only)
Golden Gate Bridge is having fireworks directly from its towers, the 3rd time in history, for the 250th Independence day. Plus barges near Pier 39 and Aquatic Park, starting around 9:30 pm and lasting about 20 minutes. Discuss with your new friends and make a plan.

• Crissy Field / Marina Green / Fort Mason — our top pick this year. Wide-open lawns with unobstructed Golden Gate Bridge views, and a straight shot north from the festival. Best angle on the bridge launch.
• Pier 39 / Aquatic Park — the classic, livelier spot, better for the barge show.
• Twin Peaks — a panoramic perch where you can see the bridge, the bay, and the skyline all at once. Risk of fog though.
