FREE HIKE - Woodlands of Box Hill - Saturday 27 July

Details

Join us as we walk across the fields and forests of glorious Box Hill in Surrey. Located at the edge of the North Downs escarpment, where chalk gives way to greensand, views from here stretch across much of the south of England.

Named after its evergreen box trees, the hill is home to the largest native woodland of its type anywhere in the country. A noted beauty spot for generations, its scenery has been an inspiration to writers such as G. K. Chesterton and Jane Austen.

Our route will take us by impressive chalk slopes cut by the River Mole and then the hill itself. We will walk along the scarp face and beyond this make our way across fields and extensive woodlands.
