EGGS & BACON BAY, MICKEY’S BEACH  & ECHO SUGARLOAF - HUON VALLEY AREA

**Hi all, I will endeavour to post hikes two weeks in advance, give you plenty of notice. My hikes will be on Saturday mornings, expect a couple of early starts when we switch to Daylight Savings. All welcome - make sure you have the essential skills (do your own research) to undertake each hike.**

EGGS & BACON BAY, MICKEY’S BEACH & ECHO SUGARLOAF - HUON VALLEY AREA

DATE : Saturday 30 August 2025
DEPARTING AT : 9.30am from Eggs & Bacon Bay car park - on the Esplanade (see map)
DRIVING DISTANCE FROM HOBART : 60 kms (allow 75 mins)
HIKING DISTANCE : 11km, GRADE : Moderate
TRACK DESCRIPTION : Expect climbing and hill sections. Steps are rough leading down into Randalls Bay (only short descent). Bit of a climb to Echo Sugarloaf.
DURATION : Approx 3 to 3.5 hours
FACILITIES : Toilets at Eggs & Bacon Bay, Randalls Bay
TAS PARKS PASS : No

Description of Walk
Meet on the Esplanade at Eggs & Bacon Bay, a little bit of road walking to get to Mickey's Beach. This is a pretty and secluded small beach with nice views. We take a short detour that leads south to the tip of the coast. Track is gravel with some steepish steps leading onto Randalls Bay beach.

Echo Sugarloaf starts with a walk east along the beach to the trail head on Williams Road. (There is a set of steps going up between 65 & 69 Williams Road). This land has been left to Tas Parks to look after.
There are magnificent views over Randalls Bay to the Huon River, D’Entrecasteaux Channel and the southwest mountains. Hoping for clear skies.
