Backpacking the Baker Trail (60+ Miles)
Details
Let’s hike the Baker Trail! This will be a two night fall backpacking trip. Hopefully not too hot. Maybe some leaves will be turning. Lots of road walking on this trip.
Mileage splits will be 17/30/18. We’ll probably end up doing some night hiking. We’ll start at the parking area on Godfrey Road, near the Allegheny River and hike north to Mahoning Creek Lake. Camping will be at the Pine Run and Milo Weaver Shelters. Water could be an issue so we may cache some in advance. Bring extra capacity just in case.
The elevation gain will be pretty mild and the road walks will make for a quick pace, but please know your limits and abilities before signing up. The trail should be blazed yellow the entire way but you will need to be able to navigate on your own if you adopt a slower pace.
We’ll meet at Mahoning Creek Lake, leave a vehicle or two, and drive to the start. Please arrive on time (or early), as we will have a long day ahead of us.
Meeting Location:
