EASY GETAWAY: KAYAK AND CAMPING IN WINTER PARK

Campout on Dog Island in Winter Park. We'll be done before Sunday lunch. It’s an easy getaway, a 'CHILL' event.

Dog Island is in Lake Maitland and has been named officially as such since 1872. It takes seconds to walk from one of its coves to the opposite. Just RSVP here and show up. The payback is a half hour with a bag and gloves to clean up the island (both provided) the next morning before we leave.

Bring your own dinner/breakfast, a chair, a boat and sleeping gear, be it tent or hammock. Trail Homies is providing the fire and a small stove for heating water. Much fun expected. Your children and dogs are welcome if they are amenable. the dogs, that is. (It’s a small island to have to endure a rough night with a cranky canine.)

Be prepared for a possible fee for overnight parking. (Any further developments about parking, check in the Comments Section.)

Feel free to stay later on the island than 11 AM.
