Head to the desert this fall and explore Kane and Bullet canyons in Cedar Mesa, Utah on a 2 day, 20.5 mile backpacking trip. We'll meet Friday evening, October 24th and camp on BLM land near the Bullet canyon trailhead. (exact spot TBD, depending on availability, ill share options prior to the start). The next day, we'll backpack 11.7 miles and set up camp near Coyote Spring in Grand Gulch. On Sunday, October 26th, we'll backpack 9.7 miles out of Bullet canyon to the trailhead. Government TH provides additional mileage to an arch, see map below. There are many ancient ruins and petroglyphs in the canyons, and we'll take some time to explore these places. Sometimes the trail may not be maintained, requiring some route finding. Previous backpacking experience is required, please join the wait list and I'll confirm availability and experience. The campsite for Saturday, October 25th may be moved slightly depending on water availability from recent trip reports and from the ranger station.
Optional- car pool Thursday, October 23rd at 4 pm from the Wooly Mammoth Park and Ride in Golden, and camp near Moab, UT. I plan to work remotely from Moab on Friday, October 25th, and then head to the Friday campsite. Please message me if you'd also like to do this.

Permits for the trip are $15.75/per person, and I currently paid for 8 spots. Please paypal or venmo the $15.75 to reserve your spot on the trip. Please message me for payment info.

TRAILS AND ALES ORGANIZERS MEETING:

It has been way too long since Trails and Ales has had a meeting of organizers. I feel that in some ways, some have drifted from or misunderstood the fundamentals of what the group is about, how both members and organizers are expected to behave and basic common sense for running outdoor group activities. I also know that there are common and well founded concerns from your point of view as organizers. I would like to address all of this and see how we can move forward in the spirit of what makes us tick.

Please note that this is an Organizers Only meeting. This is not for those who are interested in becoming organizers (although we will have some of those again as well). and it is not for guests.

We will meet at the covered gazebo to do a quick circle of introductions and have a leisurely social hike to catch up on our week and meet some new friends along with old friends on a weekly basis!!!

Popular trail offering views of Denver, the Front Range and wildlife. Bluffs Regional Park Trail is a 2.8 mile loop trail located in Lone Tree that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. Two overlooks add about a half-mile each. Minimal elevation gain. Dog friendly, on-leash.

We can go longer than the 2.8 miles to visit Lonehenge, aka the stone benches, which adds about 1.6 miles to the hike.

Hopefully we’ll catch an amazing sunset!!

Afterwards, we’ll head over to Clock Tower Grill. They have a great happy hour food/drink menu until 7 pm. Nice covered patio. We celebrate birthdays! Let us know, and we’ll get a slice of their awesome Oreo Ice Cream Cake to share!
