What we’re about

Do you drive? Do you want to go for a 20km, 8 hour hike? Do you enjoy waking up at 6am? If you answered NO to any of these questions, this group is for you!

The focus of this hiking group will be intermediate, transit accessible hikes. Why? Because I do not drive, I don't want to wake up at the crack of dawn, and I am not skilled enough to do a difficult hike but I want something more than a flat walk.

All events will be TRANSIT ACCESSIBLE!

Drivers are of course welcome to join the group, as well as drive to the hikes, but I wanted to create a group that allows non-drivers a chance to go hiking. Because the focus on this group is TRANSIT ACCESSIBLE hikes, parking availability will not be taken into consideration. If you choose to drive to the hike, you are responsible for ensuring that you can find parking and be ready at the beginning of the posted time. I will base the start time of the hikes on the bus schedule and my desire to not wake up at 6am.

The pace of the hikes will be MODERATE: we will walk faster on flat terrain and slower while going up inclines, and take breaks as needed. Beginners are welcome, but note that this group is for intermediate hikers. While we don't leave people behind, for the enjoyment of everyone, we do need to go at a moderate pace. Please fully read event descriptions and do not overestimate your ability. If you have never hiked before, it is best to start off on a walk, progressing to longer walks, and then shorter, easier hikes. The hikes will mostly be intermediate hikes for people with experience, usually around 3 to 5 hours with some incline. But there will also be walks and easier/shorter hikes so that people can gain experience and ability.

Other things to note:

  • All hikes will be dog-free. No dogs will be permitted on the hikes.
  • People who no-show or who cancel at the last minute may be removed from the group.
  • If you do not have a photo showing your face, you will not be permitted to join the group.
  • Please try your best to answer the questions. I am asking to try and get to know you, and gauge your hiking ability!
