What we’re about
Do you study subway maps for fun? Ever taken a bus when a car would be easier? Dreamed of ringing the bell on a cable car? Then have we got a group for you! Join with other transit enthusiasts to talk about, read about and travel on public transportation in the Washington area (and perhaps beyond)! We'll gather for presentations and debates (did the auto industry really sabotage trollies?) and go on field trips around the city on the Metro, Metrobus, regional carriers--even the largely useless but still lovely H Street streetcar. If the trip (on public transit) is often more important than the destination, you've found your group!

See all- Transit, Ahoy!City Cruises Alexandria The Wharf Water Taxi, Washington, DC
Leave your landlubber cares behind you and join us on the only waterborne transit in the D.C. area! Incorrectly dubbed the Potomac Water "Taxi", this is instead and indisputably a water bus: it runs on a regular advertised route, carries large numbers of passengers and cannot be hailed.
Last year, we went from Georgetown to the exciting Wharf in SW Washington. This time we're mixing it up by STARTING at the Wharf and traveling down the Potomac to Old Town Alexandria. That's where we'll have lunch, then take the shuttle bus up King Street to the Metro and home.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Our outings usually require only a Metro Card, but this one is different. Each participant needs to visit this website and purchase a ticket for the Saturday, June 1, 11:45 AM Water Taxi from the Wharf to Alexandria. The cost is $27.
Hope to see you all there!
