Hey members, after all the family reunion, feasting, gatherings etc., it's time to burn those excess calories, catch up with your TLC friends and enjoy an evening stroll under the stars as we enjoy those beautiful lanterns, bright lights together with our new-found friends to celebrate this festive season.
This year's River Hongbao brings out an awe-inspiring lanterns and light display of Chinese cultures and traditions. The word ‘Hongbao’ means Red Packet, a New Year monetary gift believed to bring good luck to children and for unmarried adults too seeking to experience fun-filled activities with friends.
Come, join us for this photo fun walk and celebration as we usher in the Year of the Dragon together. Be dazzled by the lantern displays, spectacular stage performances and a host of other festivities at River Hongbao 2024.
See our beautiful Gardens by the Bay transformed into a magical garden brought to life by more than 20 enchanting lantern sets.
Keep your eyes peeled on the gorgeous star of the festival, the largest-ever lantern display featuring the magnificent, suspended dragon that will swirl around the Super-trees alongside the evergreen favourite, God of Fortune. truly a sight to behold. This year, the lanterns have been infused with modern themes, ideas and pop-culture references. How many of them can you spot?
There are lots to look forward to plus a host of programmes, entertainment awaits you from the main stage. Enjoy dance and musical performances by Chinese cultural troupes, Getai singers and not forgetting some of our Mediacorp artists.
The Greetings and Blessings: Then and Now exhibition. Curated by the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall, this exhibition showcases the historical development of Chinese New Year markets in Singapore since the 1950s. It features interactive elements and installations that enable visitors to immerse themselves in the lively and festive ambience of Chinese New Year markets in the past. Through the exhibition, visitors can understand the way of life, values, and traditions of the Chinese community in Singapore.
What is Chinese New Year without food and a festive treat? The highly anticipated food-street stalls are back at this year’s River Hongbao. Yes, pick your favourite snack as you explore what the food stalls have to offer.
So come, join us as we head down to be in the heart of it - meeting new friends and enjoying all the River Hongbao action together.
Yes, it's on this Thurs 15 Feb to avoid the madding week-end crowd and almost the end of the work week. Time to celebrate.
