Travel photography is thrilling because it's about discovery and adventure. Whether we're halfway around the world or a few short blocks from our home, our camera is a tool to capture the spirit of the places we visit and to share that spirit with our community. The travel photographer must be versatile, switching effortlessly among many genres including landscape, wildlife, cityscape, portrait, performing arts, nighttime, and street photography. Share your passion for travel photography with other like-minded enthusiasts, and build your skills in a supportive community.
We'll connect and learn in a variety of different ways. Whether through photo walks, hands-on workshops, classes, exhibitions, and photography tours to locations around the world, our goal will always be to fuel our passion for travel photography as we grow our skills. Please join us!

Join us for our first-ever World Dance Photo Workshop. This exclusive series of workshops will give us the opportunity to explore vibrant dance traditions from around the world, all without leaving the SF Bay Area. Each workshop will feature a different style of traditional dance.
Our exciting first workshop features Butoh dance, a mesmerizing post-war Japanese dance style that was designed to shock the world with its unsettling white body paint, heavy and exaggerated movement style, and grotesque facial expressions. It’s hard to find good Butoh dancers in the USA, and you won’t find any better practitioners than our guest artists Anna and KC. Both of these seasoned professionals are skilled in a wide range of performance arts including aerial dance and Butoh.

Photographers will shoot in a number of timed rounds, with one photographer shooting at a time. Wardrobe, movement styles, lighting, and/or sets will change between rounds.We will be using Pocket Wizards to trigger the studio flashes, so bring one if you have one. We do have some to share if you don't already have a pocket wizard.
Bring your camera and a lens that covers a standard zoom range of about 24-70mm and/or a standard prime of about 35 mm or 50mm (full-frame equivalent). Your lens does not have to be fast, as we will be using studio strobe lighting.
Attendees will be provided a promotional usage release. Commercial releases will be available from the models for an additional fee.
You won’t want to miss this rare opportunity to photograph two spectacularly creative artists as they perform Butoh dance movement in a variety of settings: solo and duo, on the ground and in the air. We will capture their stunning artistry using a number of photographic techniques which may include high-key, low-key, colored gels, and long-exposure motion blur.
