Save the Trees at Lake Merritt - Lakeside Park

We are excited to continue our Summer 2025 Save the Trees volunteer events!

Join us for a day of tree care and tree education at Lakeside Park along Grand Ave on Juneteenth Thursday June 19th.

We will work together to: remove weeds that are growing too close to the young trees, sheet-mulch around the new trees and existing Cork oak trees, water the trees, apply mycorrhizal fungi spores, and prune the trees if necessary.

Bring a hat for shade, sunscreen, water bottle, and your energy for growing Oakland's Urban Forest with like-minded tree folk!

Due to anticipated Juneteenth crowds, there will be some street closures around Lake Merritt. It appears that the area where we are meeting will be accessible by car, but please allow extra time. Check the City of Oakland website for details.
