Volunteering for Roosevelt Rockets Reading Buddies Program
Details
Roosevelt Rockets Reading Buddies is a great opportunity to give back to the community in a meaningful way that's incredibly easy. We read storybooks to first-graders to help them develop a fondness for reading. Literacy is a key to success.
We're pleased to be invited back for the restart of this monthly program. The children really appreciate the attention and our interest in helping them learn. They look forward to our visits and consider the readers to be their special friends. Many readers come back month after month because they enjoy it so much.
Now in its eighth year, the program was created as a positive response to the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary. This is our third year doing it. The books are provided.
After the reading, everyone is invited for lunch at nearby BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse at Tanger Outlets (previously known as Palm Beach Outlets), 1807 Palm Beach Lakes Blvd. directly across Target. Its website is https://www.bjsrestaurants.com/locations/fl/west-palm-beach.
Roosevelt Elementary is at 1220 15th (Kirksey) Street, off N. Australian Ave. one block north of Palm Beach Lakes Blvd. Check-in is at the main office in front of the school. Look for the Meetup sign.
NOTE - This is a multi-group Meetup.
