Rock Run trail (Located on 52 across from Campground)

Rock Run is a 802-acre Wilderness Preserve protecting the exceptionally deep ravine of Rock Run – a two square mile pristine watershed that flows directly into the Ohio River and is nearly completely protected within the boundaries of the Arc’s Rock Run preserve and Shawnee State Park holdings. A 3.3 mile loop trail takes hikers deep into the preserve. The 400 foot elevation difference between the region’s river and its ridgetops provides a landscape of extraordinary relief and outstanding panoramas.

Buzzards Roost Rock Trail:
The new trailhead off of OH 125 skips the big hill of the old route, but the view at the end is the same.

The route is a simple out-n-back, about 2-1/4 miles each way, mostly following a ridgeline. Look for numerous seasonal waterfalls along the first mile of trail. With the leaves down, the Devil's Teakettle can be seen across the valley from the trail just after the climb from the field.

Liability Waiver – As always, by joining in this event you are acknowledging that you have read and agree to abide by the Tri-State Kayakers liability waiver. You can find this waiver on the Tri-State Kayakers web site, at: https://www.meetup.com/Tri-State-Kayakers/pages/Legal_Waiver/

SAFETY SIGN IN: Everyone will sign in before launching: your name, Emergency contact person and phone number. I realized if someone required 911, I do not know last names or who to call. This list is kept in my dry bag during the paddle, then shredded when I get home. Hopefully we will never have to use it. :D
