Learn How to Level Up Our Monitoring Skills

The next meetup talk is coming to us from Ben Scofield and it follows on a familiar theme of some of our past meetups, but it's a theme that everyone can always be leveling up.

Leveling up your monitoring

In a welcome change of pace, people are paying more attention than ever before to what, how, and when they monitor their systems and applications. In this talk, we'll journey from level 0 (peasant) to … well, something much more powerful*, able to slay incident-dragons wherever they may appear. We'll be looking at concepts and practices more than specific tools, so there'll be something for everyone regardless of their background.

• Monitoring, like characters in a classic RPG, knows no level cap.

Ben Scofield is the technical lead for email at LivingSocial (which, as you may know, sends a whole heck of a lot of email). He's helped design and build large applications for startups and established companies, and has seen them fail in all sorts of fun and interesting ways, so he's learned a little about noticing the warning signs early.

Note that this meetup is one week earlier than usual, that way everyone can make the most of their Christmas holidays.
