About us
The Libertarian Party constitute the leading alternative to the Ds and Rs in North Carolina, striving to defend all your rights, all the time and to keep government out of your pocketbook and out of your bedroom.
The Triangle Libertarians meetup group is jointly sponsored by three county affiliate parties: the Durham County Libertarian Party, the Orange County Libertarian Party—both of whom meet monthly—and the Wake County Libertarian Party, who meet weekly. Most meetups are primarily social, but often there is a featured speaker or event; check the listings for details. Everyone is welcome to attend, encouraged to ask questions, learn…and teach!

WakeLP Meetup—Ed George on Common Sense Investing
Tobacco Road Sports Cafe, 505 West Jones Street, Raleigh, NC, US“The Party of Principle.” That’s the slogan of the Libertarian Party. Perhaps the question of how well hewing to principles works in politics is open to debate. Not so much when it comes to investing in stocks, however.
Turns out fidelity to a simple principle—“buy low and sell high”—is a reliable formula for successful investing.
Of course, to accomplish that, you have to know what a stock is really worth. Tonight’s presentation is about how to think when deciding how much to pay for a company's stock based on the teachings of Warren Buffett, Charlie Munger, and Mohnish Pabrai. These are proven methods, as practiced by the presenter, Ed George.
Ed has spent years studying and doing value investing. Formally an instructor for Phil Town’s “Rule One Investing,” he now teaches classes locally sharing his techniques. He also issues a free newsletter outlining his current thinking and trades. You can sign up for it at www.freemarketventuresinc.com.
Ed is also a design and construction project consultant in the biopharmaceutical industry. He has a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and is our 2026 NC House 34 candidate.
The presentation will start at 7:30pm and be live-streamed on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@WakeUpLiberty/streams
NOTE: Ed is not an investment advisor, and does not give investing advice; the information he shares is for educational purposes only.
PARKING: Tobacco Road provides three hours of gratis parking in the Powerhouse Square Parking Deck behind the restaurant.
