New Meeting: Heads Up! Richmond Vegetarian Festival

From: Stephanie H.
Sent on: Thursday, April 24, 2008 11:51 AM
Announcing a new meeting for Vegetarian & Vegan Meetup of Chapel Hill, Durham & Raleigh!

What: Heads Up! Richmond Vegetarian Festival

When: Saturday, June 21, 12:00 PM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Who should come: Anyone who is up for a little road trip and wants to check out a great vegetarian festival!

Why: There are lots of veg restaurant offerings, informational booths, nonprofits, arts and crafts, music and more!

Meeting Description: This is a Heads Up and not an official meetup event - though if there is interest in going we might be able to organize carpools and/or meetup at the event to enjoy food and whatnot.

This is the 6th year of this free, outdoor event in Richmond to celebrate (and educate about) a humane and healthy lifestyle. Each year the event attracts thousands (yes, thousands!) from around the region. Sample vegetarian (I think it's actually going to be all vegan again this year) food from Richmond and beyond, listen to up and coming local musicians, learn about a variety of nonprofit causes and shop eclectic vendors and artisans. The event also features a children's activity area. Admission is free and restaurants set their own prices for food. It's been very reasonable in the past.

The volunteers are hard at work organizing this year's event and the website isn't quite ready, but you can keep an eye out for more details at In the event of severe weather a rain date of July 12 has been selected. One year there was a hurricane the weekend of the festival!

Now I am partial because I've helped with the event since year one, but I think the event is a lot of fun. Plus there is some great food! : ) If you are interested, they probably still need volunteers as well. Click on my profile (Stephanie H) and email me - I can get you in touch with the organizers.
