End of Year Style Email - Veg Meetup!

Hello, Triangle Vegetarian and Vegan Meetup members!
We're about at the end of 2009 - this was my first year as the official organizer of the meetup. We've had a great year with lots of wonderful social events and some fun activism. We've also grown to 540 members strong! A hearty welcome to all our new members!! Those members that have been around, but not made it to an event in a while (or at all), I hope we can get you out in 2010! As always, suggestions for future events are welcome! What can we do to get you out with us?

This has really been a great year! We have had lots of successful events. New restaurants eaten at, the Walk for Farm Animals had larger attendance, and we've gotten out and about in nature with new walking/hiking events. I would also like to say how happy I am that our 'no shows' (which includes people not attending when RSVP'd Yes or changing their RSVP at the last minute) have GREATLY improved (with the exception of a recent event at Greenleaf). It's embarrassing to organize an event (which often involves talking with the restaurant several times), tell the restaurant how many people are coming and then a lot of people don't show up at the last minute. PLEASE do your part to keep up the good work by considering your RSVP carefully and only changing last minute if absolutely necessary. While we organize online, this is a real group and your organizers are real people - we want to see you when you say you are coming! smile

I am truly thankful to have befriended so many of you! It is so wonderful to have such a strong veg*an community in our area! I am also thrilled with the number of people contributing member dues and helping me pay the meetup.com server fees! You may have noticed I've lowered the fee to $6 a year (or $1 for a month you attend a meetup if you come infrequently). This will also make it easier to divide the amount for someone joining midyear. And a NEW POLICY - assistant organizers who commit to organize a minimum of 3 events per year will be exempt from the dues. Please email me if you'd like to find out what being an assistant organizer entails. And of course email me if you have any suggestions for our great group!

We've got a month left in the year and still plenty of events on the calendar! http://www.meetup.com/triangleveg/calendar/ I hope to see you at some of them! Have a great holiday season!

Your humble organizer,

Stephanie biggrin
