Tribe of Books Ghent - The Wim Hof Method by Wim Hof

Details

What did you do in the beginning of February when the Belgian temperatures hit rock bottom and the landscape outside was covered in ice and snow?

Did you crank up the heat and lock yourself inside, maybe with a hot drink or a good book in hand? Or did you still venture out into the cold to explore the enchanting winter wonderland for some exercise or some fun in the snow? Maybe you did some figure skating on the ice or even went so far as to do some skinny dipping below...

As crazy as the last suggestion seems, immersing yourself in the cold has some distinct health benefits, as science and a growing number of social media accounts from rosy-cheeked, defiantly-smiley friends, health influencers or athletes will happily confirm.

One of the living legends who pioneered this field is Wim Hof aka “The Iceman” - perhaps “The Crazy Dutchman” would be a more fitting nickname. He is no stranger to cold and gained fame by breaking various world records, including climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in shorts at -15°C, running a half marathon above the Arctic Circle barefoot and swimming underneath ice for 66 meters.

Freak of nature I hear you say. However, there is a method to the madness as he has been able to teach others to accomplish similar feats in just a few days. This method, combining cold exposure, breath work and mindset, might be the key key to unlocking your inner strength, vitality and health.

So join us for our 8th event on Wednesday evening (07/04) at 7:30 pm to discuss and workshop the ideas from the book ‘The Wim Hof Method’ by Wim ‘The Iceman’ Hof!

To help explain the science behind cold water therapy and give some tips & tricks we also invited an expert: Siebe Hannosset, Intermittent Living mentor of PNI Europe, who teaches these principles to professional athletes, entrepreneurs, managers and politicians, for a living.

This and more we will discuss during our next Tribe Of Books meetup on the 7th of April, 2021. Feel free to bring your own favorite book on the topic of habits and we will include it in the workshop.

> Read the book or bring your own book or ideas on cold exposure and breathing routines
> We will share some additional resources and info one week before the event
> Your evening will be facilitated by Siebe & Karel
> Ask away if you have any questions

Hope to see you with many on the 7th of April in our Zoom Café or in person - to be determined!

Stay healthy and take care

Nathan, Karel & Siebe on behalf of the Tribe
