Note: The topic of this meeting has changed, it will no longer be a hands-on building of an app. It is now a group discussion.

Web Applications: High Level Architecture Discussion

This will be a group discussion about web application architectures. It will be high-level, talking about web 1.0 application architecture (e.g. mid-late 90's applications, or thin-client) and web 2.0 application architecture (e.g. heavy javascript applications, or thick client).

We won't be looking at code, we won't be digging into specific frameworks or libraries.

This is a chance to have a group discussion about those differences: the pros/cons, where you put logic between the front-end and back-end, coupling between the front-end and back-end, the additional power of a javascript heavy application vs the additional complexity.

Speaker Bio: Kip Streithorst is a Senior Software Engineer working for Applied Information Sciences in Raleigh. He spends most of his day working with Javascript but also uses ASP.NET MVC for back-end services. When not programming, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters.
