Test Double Quintet

Details

How do we make sure our code works before it's deployed? Testing!
What's the fastest and easiest-to-repeat way to test a small piece of code? Unit Testing!
What can we create to help us unit test small pieces of code that have dependencies? Test Doubles!

But what is a test double really? How do we know when they are needed? What are the forces that drive us to create them? How many different kinds of test doubles are there?

In this presentation, we will talk about the five types of test doubles. We will go through each type, one by one, starting with the simplest test double, and then working our way up to the more complex types. For each type, we'll look at a piece of code that we want to unit test, and talk about the needs of that code that drive us to each type of test double.
