Este domingo realizaremos una de las rutas de senderismo más bellas de la sierra madrileña, por la hermosa zona que rodea el mítico pueblo de Cercedilla al norte de Madrid. Desde el punto conocido como El Mirador de los Poetas, podremos disfrutar de las vistas de Siete Picos, un macizo también conocido como La Sierra del Dragón, las aguas del río Pradillo, el Camino del Agua y un majestuoso bosque de pinos y robles. Admirado por el rey Carlos V, este increíble y mágico bosque será nuestro deleite de este fin de semana.
A mitad del recorrido, haremos un picnic para descansar, comer y disfrutar las vistas junto al rio.
Esta es una ruta de nivel moderado de unos 15km.

Todas nuestras rutas son en transporte público, por favor trae algo de efectivo para el bús. Si tienes coche puedes venir y compartir gastos de gasolina con otros senderistas.

Madrid is not only a city full of culture, nightlife, beers, and tapas, but also a place surrounded by nature: mountains, lakes, rivers, and fun! Discover it while meeting people from all over the world. 🌳🏔️
This Sunday, we will hike one of the most beautiful trails in the Madrid mountains, through the beautiful area surrounding the legendary village of Cercedilla, north of Madrid. From the viewpoint known as El Mirador de los Poetas, we will enjoy views of Siete Picos, a mountain range also known as La Sierra del Dragón, the waters of the Pradillo River, the Camino del Agua, and a majestic forest of pine and oak trees. Admired by King Charles V, this incredible and magical forest will be our delight this weekend.
Halfway through the route, we will have a picnic to rest, eat, and enjoy the views by the river.
This is a moderate level route of about 15km.

🎒What do I need to bring?

• Wear comfortable walking or hiking boots, or sneakers. Your feet will thank you!

• Don't forget sunscreen to protect your skin.
• Wear warm clothes!

El monte Abantos es una montaña de la sierra de Guadarrama en el sistema Central, cadena que recorre de este a oeste el centro de la península ibérica, en España. La mayor parte de la montaña se encuentra en el término municipal madrileño de San Lorenzo de El Escorial, con parte de su ladera oeste en la provincia castellanoleonesa de Ávila. Esta formación montañosa tiene una gran importancia histórica. Su ladera sur fue elegida por el rey Felipe II para construir el Monasterio de El Escorial, obra del siglo xvi. Alrededor de este edificio surgió el actual municipio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial, el principal núcleo urbano de su entorno. En su vertiente septentrional, en el paraje de Cuelgamuros, se encuentra el Valle de los Caídos.
El 21 de agosto de 1999 su ladera este sufrió un devastador incendio forestal provocado intencionadamente. Se calcinaron 450 hectáreas de bosque de pino silvestre y resinero, calcinándose 170 000 árboles, además de destrozarse los hábitats de muchos animales y aves. Hoy en día crecen los pinos plantados en la repoblación (iniciada en el otoño de 2000), aunque las actuaciones llevadas a cabo por la Consejería de Medio Ambiente para dicha reforestación fueron muy criticadas ya que no se tuvo en cuenta la regeneración natural que ya se estaba produciendo.

⭐Mount Abantos is a mountain in the Guadarrama range in the Central System, a chain that runs from east to west through the center of the Iberian Peninsula in Spain. Most of the mountain is located in the Madrid municipality of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, with part of its western slope in the Castilian-Leonese province of Ávila. This mountain range is of great historical importance. Its southern slope was chosen by King Philip II to build the Monastery of El Escorial, a 16th-century work. The current municipality of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, the main urban center in the area, grew up around this building.On its northern slope, in the area of Cuelgamuros, is the Valley of the Fallen.

Rodeado de montañas, bosques de pinos y aire fresco de altura, el embalse de la Jarosa es un lugar ideal para desconectar del bullicio de Madrid y sumergirse en plena naturaleza. Su entorno ofrece rutas sencillas y panorámicas que combinan agua, montaña e historia.
🌍 ¿Sabías que el embalse de la Jarosa se construyó en 1968 y es el único de la Sierra de Guadarrama? Además, bajo sus aguas quedó sumergida la aldea medieval de la Herrería, cuyos restos solo se dejan ver en épocas de sequía. ¡Caminar aquí es también caminar sobre historia!
🌿 Detalles de la Caminata La ruta será de desnivel moderado pero asequible para todos. Caminaremos alrededor del embalse, disfrutando de las vistas al agua rodeada de pinos y robles, y haremos una parada en alguna de las áreas recreativas para disfrutar de un picnic relajado con vistas espectaculares y retomar nuestro camino de vuelta.

Surrounded by mountains, pine forests, and fresh mountain air, the Jarosa reservoir is an ideal place to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of Madrid and immerse yourself in nature. Its surroundings offer easy, scenic routes that combine water, mountains, and history.

🌍 Did you know that the Jarosa reservoir was built in 1968 and is the only one in the Sierra de Guadarrama? What's more, the medieval village of La Herrería was submerged beneath its waters, and its remains can only be seen during periods of drought. Walking here is also walking through history!

🌿 Walk details The route will be moderately steep but accessible to all. We will walk around the reservoir, enjoying the views of the water surrounded by pine and oak trees, and we will stop at one of the recreational areas to enjoy a relaxed picnic with spectacular views before heading back.
