FTA MEMBERS ONLY Backpacking 101 in Oak Creek and Hickory Hammock

This is a "shake down" hike to let new backpackers tryout their gear and ask questions from a few experienced backpackers. We'll meet in the parking lot of Oak Creek Trailhead for a 2 hour in, lunch, 2 hour out hike then drive to Hickory Hammock Equestrian Campground for a car camp overnight. Next morning we'll hike about 2 miles into Hickory Hammock Campsite and stop for lunch (bring your own) and a break, then hike 2-1/2 miles, with packs, to Istokpoga boat ramp to collect and filter water, returning to the campsite overnight.
