Try Toronto is a Toronto-based newcomers community with 4,000+ members, built by newcomers, for newcomers. We bring together immigrants, refugees, and international residents for social events, skill-building workshops, and genuine human connection — because settling in a new country is easier when you don't do it alone.
What we do:

🎬 TIFF from the Inside: Red Carpets, Premieres & Stars with Alex
King st west & simcoe st, 68 simcoe st, Toronto, ON, CAFrom September 10 to 20, downtown Toronto will be all about cinema: premieres, red carpets, crowds of fans, photographers, and guests from around the world! We’ll head straight into the heart of TIFF and see how one of the world’s biggest film festivals transforms the city for these ten days.
What to expect:
🎬 A walk through TIFF’s main festival locations, right in the middle of the action
📽 The story of the festival: how TIFF started in Toronto and grew into a world-class event
🔥 The most talked-about films, premieres, and guests of TIFF 2026
📸 Where the red carpets take place, where fans gather, and where you’re most likely to spot actors and directors during the festival
🎞 How TIFF works from the inside: venues, premieres, festival life, and what usually stays behind the scenes

And most importantly, we’ll be exploring Toronto on the evening of September 11, right in the middle of TIFF, when the festival atmosphere is in full swing.
This is an easy, relaxed walking tour. You don’t need to be a film expert or follow every premiere. You just need to want to experience the film festival in person.🎤 Your Guide: Alex - one of Toronto’s top guides. With him, a simple walk turns into an adventure. He knows how to tell a story so well that everyone forgets about everyday worries and their phones.

Canadian Blood Services, College St., Victoria Hospital for Sick Children, 67 College St, Toronto, ON M5G 2M1, Канада, Toronto, ON, CAWe invite you to join our blood donation initiative! Your contribution could help save someone’s life. ❤️
Donating blood might seem complicated at first, but good news, we’ve already figured everything out for you and reserved comfortable chairs and the friendliest nurses for our group. 😊❗ Important! To participate, your English level must be at least Intermediate. You need to be able to understand basic health-related questions in English without Google Translate, which will be included in the questionnaire.

- Be sure to register for the event using the button below; we’ll send you a notification with the pickup location and other details.
✅ Important before donating blood:
- Eat a hearty breakfast
- Drink plenty of fluids
- Take your ID card ❗
- Avoid strenuous physical activity 2–3 days before and after
❌ You cannot donate blood if:
- You attended a party with alcohol yesterday
- You’ve recently had anemia (take care of yourself first!)
- Your doctor has advised against it

🎾 Tennis. Training for Beginners
Jonathan Ashbridge Park, One block west of Queen St. E. and Coxwell Ave., Toronto, ON, CAWant to try tennis and get it right from the start?
During the session, you’ll:
✔️ master the basics
✔️ learn proper body positioning
✔️ understand footwork and coordination on the court
✔️ learn how to hold the racket and control your shots
This session is perfect for beginners and helps you build safe and effective technique from the very start 💪
⏳ Duration: 1.5 hours
🎾 Coach: Olga Novikova is a tennis coach with many years of experience working with both children and adults. She takes an individual approach to every player, helping develop solid technique, confidence, and a genuine love for the game. Olga is also an active member of Toronto's tennis community, serving as the administrator of the Find Tennis Player Toronto group and organizing tennis tournaments, sports meetups, and community events.

• A tennis racket, if you have one (please let us know in the chat if you're bringing your own)

🥾 Silent Lake Hike
Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Subway Station, Highway 7 and Jane Street, Vaughan, on, CAEscape the city and discover Silent Lake Provincial Park - peaceful forest trails, granite ridges, crystal-clear water, and beautiful viewpoints over one of Ontario’s few motor-free lakes.
We’ll hike a 15 km loop at a relaxed pace with breaks for photos and enjoying the scenery. The trail is easy to moderate, but you should feel comfortable walking for 5-7 hours on uneven terrain with some hills and rocky sections.
After the hike, we’ll relax at the beach for a snack or head to a nearby restaurant together.

• Guided 5-7 hours loop hike through Silent Lake Provincial Park
• Beautiful forest trails and rocky Canadian Shield landscapes
• Scenic lookouts over the lake
• Plenty of photo opportunities
• Friendly group and a relaxed pace✨ Price:
