Tucson Atheists Monthly Discussion and Summer Solstice Gathering

Details

Note the time change...

This month we're going to take a break from the normal agenda and gather together to celebrate the birth of Summer. There is a grill and there will be dogs and buns. Feel free to bring food and other things you normally have at a picnic. (Except ants. Don't bring ants).

It is a celebration of our Sun taking a pause from its northward trek to pause and change direction while it gives us about 90 days of life enhancing light and heat.

The summer solstice, the longest day of the year, is celebrated with vibrant festivities worldwide. As the sun reaches its highest point, people gather to honor warmth, light, and the changing seasons. From lively bonfires and music-filled gatherings to spiritual ceremonies marking renewal, communities embrace this day with joy and gratitude. Some indulge in feasts, including classic summer treats like hot dogs, while others partake in ancient traditions, dancing under the golden glow. Whether through reflection or revelry, the solstice reminds us of nature’s rhythms and the energy of the sun at its peak.
