Humphrey Training Hike

Details

Time for training again!!!! For the purpose of high elevation and uphill climb, I am planning a series of uphill hikes.

Humphrey is 12633 feet which is just a bit higher than Mt Fuji of 12388 feet. That would be a perfect training hike.

Here is the tentative plan:
Wednesday, June 18th: leave Tucson late morning to west Flagstaff and set camp. We will either cook dinner at the camp or eat out in Flagstaff.

Thursday, June 19th: drive up to AZ Snowbowl to hike Humphrey Peak. It is a 10 miles round trip, with some steep inclines up to 30% grade. Since it is an in and out hike, we can hike as much as we want.

Dinner in town.

Friday, June 20th: I will break camp after breakfast and drive to Phoenix for my other plan. You are very welcome to stay over weekend to chill out and hang out or do more hiking.

We are looking to disperse camp around FR151, FR 9005L or FR151A. The roads are good dirt roads that do not need high clearance nor 4X4. The roads are just a bit off HWY 180. The intersection between HWY 180 and FR 151 is 35.28692, -111.757222. It is about 20 mins drive to the trailhead. Please see the attached map. I highlight the green area of proposed campsites.

If you are not into camping, there are a lot of hotel/motel options in Flagstaff. You can meet us at the trailhead and join us for dinner(s). If you are not into hiking the tallest peak of AZ, there are plenty of things to do in Flagstaff.

We will discuss the details of logistics when it gets close to the trip.
